The bout order for the true third matches are out, as well:

Men’s Freestyle True-Third Matches Match Order

Match 2 – 79 kg – Evan Wick (Madison, Wis./Titan Mercury WC) vs. Patrick Kennedy (West Concord, Minn./Hawkeye WC/Titan Mercury WC)

Match 3 – 86 kg – Parker Keckeisen (Glendale, Wis./Panther WC-RTC) vs. Aeoden Sinclair (Columbia, Mo./Tiger Style RTC/Titan Mercury WC)

Match 4 – 92 kg – Dustin Plott (Tuttle, Okla./Cowboy RTC/Titan Mercury WC) vs. Seth Shumate (Dublin, Ohio/Ohio RTC/Titan Mercury WC)

Match 5 – 61 kg – Austin DeSanto (Iowa City, Iowa/Hawkeye WC/Titan Mercury WC) vs. Benjamin Davino (South Elgin, Ill./Ohio RTC/Titan Mercury WC)

Match 5 – 65 kg – Joey McKenna (Stillwater, Okla./Cowboy RTC/Titan Mercury WC) vs. Beau Bartlett (Hoboken, N.J./New York City RTC/Titan Mercury WC)^

^ The 65 kg true-third match will be wrestled on Mat B alongside the 61 kg true-third match
My favorite picture from a previous match up of Bartlett vs. McKenna with Beau grinning as he makes his way back to center after dumping McKenna for 4 points at the edge.

Good morning all, and Happy Final X day!

Reminder that true third matches are listed to start at 12:30 but could start as early as Noon.

Final X finals start at 2 p.m. ET. Round 2 starts at 5 p.m. ET. And neccessary third round matches will follow those. Last year, only Duke/Yianni went to a third round. I have a feeling we'll have a couple more this year.

@Coastal2 I recall seeing you write that you won't be around. @SlipperyPete, @Tom McAndrew, or any of the other regular PBP'ers, just let me know your plans for today and I will react accordingly to whatever is or is not needed.

My schedule today:

I will absolutely be able to post results for all the true third matches. Play by play is still TBD.

For the finals, will be here for the duration and whatever is needed.

Also, checking myself here because we all know how easily I confuse myself: I am working under the impression that none of the true third matches have any implications for Penn State guys as they relate to the U23 and U20 teams. Is that correct?

Definitely no impact on U20 teams. I also don’t believe they will have any impact on U23s.

UPDATE: 2 streams just came up. Now I just have to figure out who’s wrestling on each stream. 🤣
===
When I go to FloSports and select Final X, I don’t see any sort of schedule, mat assignments, or wrestlers to follow. I just see options for INFORMATION, NEWS, and VIDEOS. I checked and I’m logged in and I have a subscription. Am I in the wrong place? Or will everything magically appear at 12:00?

There should be a red watch live button in the upper right hand corner.

Shumate did weigh in. So we will get 3 true 3rds at 79 86 92.
Not sure why we didn't know these before this morning. Wrestlers already knew all they had to do was weigh in and they won . Not sure why that wasn't communicated with the fans
It’s one of the more infuriating things about wrestling at both this and the college level, imo.

Wrestling is its own worst enemy it's been this way forever. Communication in all aspects is horrible so when wrestling gets passed up by other sports it doesn't shock me anymore.

Look at National Duals they move the date to exam time it's such a wrestling thing to do. Which made it so many teams can't attend

As always, well, sometimes or rarely, I agree with you 100%. Wrestling is absolutely it's own worst enemy!

It's not just infuriating, it is absolutely embarrassing. Seriously, why is this sport treated like such a Mickey Mouse operation.
Couldn't agree more. It's like those who run it go out of their way to earn it as little attention as possible. Not so much college (though that isn't great either) but USA Wrestling and international in general, without question, imo.

The college schedule thing drives me mad. I also don't understand why weigh in sheets aren't published before every match. I could go on and on and will save it for another day/thread. The first true third match at Final X is about to get going.
