No way Louisville doubles our revenue. I guess not owning Rupp is a big reason we don't receive as much revenue/profit.

What a stark contrast. UK Athletics is helping build a business school and chemistry. From athletics dept funds. UL on the other hand is getting a subsidy from city tax payers and blowing it on athletics. Sounds like UK has figured it out.

I think Eli Capiluto (sp) was a home run hire for UK president. He is transforming UK. A few short years ago UK and UL were nearly on par. But UK is leaving UL in dust as an institution. Focus and goals are so clear and they are on track. UL seems like they are led by athletics. Ramsey probably needs to go. He is losing the competitive battle with UK.

Alcohol sales at games helps. YUM Center is biggest sports bar in Kentucky.

It is a very sharp contrast. UK Athletics gives mlions to the general fund every year and every athletic deal is laced with required capital benefits back to the school.
And UL are the ones "doing it the right way". Ha.
In fairness, I have found most UL fans have no idea about these financial matters. I met a UL fan on a plane 2 weeks ago saying that the Yum Center and Football stadiums were already paid for and all with private funding. I just let it go. The media here has done quite some brainwashing.

Wasn't Louisville raising money by flashing up a message on participating gas pumps to "donate a dollar" to the UL athletics fund? Looks like they are putting $$ ahead of just about everything else.

look at total revenue and UK is 3rd or so
This topic comes up yearly, UL adds things into their totals that
UK does not. I am not sure what is actually added for each but I know it
is a creative total for UL to make them look more profitable.

UK's net profit is reduced because of the amount it spends on the coaching staff and recruiting expenses.
Plus I doubt the income from merchandise sales is included in that amount, Which has to be in the millions, likely more
than the total reported for basketball. They get 7% for license fees for the Name and logo.
