Good stuff

Coworker showed me video last week of their reporters confirming Gruden was wrapped up, per their solid sources.

I think they just confirm whatever rumor is got amongst the fan base for the clicks.

Yep. Just a couple days ago, Gruden to TN & Kelly to FL were “done deals”. Stricklin was right. Believe half of what you see & none of what you hear. Few, if any, know who will wind up with the open jobs or the ones about to come open. And the ones who do aren’t publishing the names for the world to see

Vol fans are really a different breed. I always enjoy perusing their message boards. More crap thrown against the wall stated as absolute fact than any other fanbase I've thusfar encountered.

Paul Jones said he'd talked to Jalen Mayden yesterday and Jalen told him that Mullen said that his name has come in rumors the last few years and not pay any attention to it that he wasn't going anywhere. I've always felt that recruits were the best barometer out there. If you see them talking about decommitting or taking visits then it's really time for concern.

There is a guy on twitter who said TN is a top4 SEC job. I asked him which job TN was better than of Bama, UGa, LSU, and UF. He said LSU, UGA, and UF are better. And that Bama and TN are tied for fourth.

Special is the word that comes to mind here...

for the record, aTm and Auburn are both better jobs too

You obviously haven't been to some of TCUN boards. Good job.

I live in TN, and all the UT fans I know think Mullen isn't good enough. I'm completely fine with that. Literally every fan I know thinks Gruden is their guy.

Dan Mullen must be lying to our players then because he's been telling the players he'll be their coach next year and not to worry.

Mullen will be twice the coach that Gruden is in the college game. Those people need to lay off the meth.

Agreed. I think it is literally the 7th best job in the conference. It's much closer to Arky in 8th than aTm in 6th IMO.

It seemed like an indication to me last night, when Clay Travis went from being in favor of Mullen to Tennessee, to dissing him and regurgitating the OM talking points about him, that he probably already told them thanks but no thanks. He pulled quite the sudden 180 on it.

I will laugh hysterically if they hire Gruden. That will be an absolute disaster but somehow they think it's the greatest coaching hire ever.

This is exactly what I've said from the start of all this talk. Pay attention to the recruits. He aint going to keep busting his *** to keep recruits happy for us if he's leaving.

They'd be morons to pay Mullen 10 million a year when he's never won a division or conference title and really only came close to beating Alabama (their main rival) twice in a decade. We already paid Mullen more than they paid Butch just this year, and when they made the Butch hire they'd have died laughing if you implied Mullen was a better coach. They'll find some assistant and they'll coach for 3 years until they don't win the east AGAIN and then rinse and repeat. Tennessee has really missed the boat in the last 3-4 years by not taking advantage of UF, UGA, and SC struggling at different times.

I had no idea that wins against Kentucky didn't "really" count as conference victories until last night. Oh, I had my suspicions. Now if we could only get the inverse of that rule to apply for our Bama games...then we'd actually be in the exact same spot.

The same guy who started a thread has now started a new flight tracker thread showing a plane leaving Knoxville and headed for starkville today.

On the Monday of a short week rivalry game?? If M erlin makes that meeting then he needs to go ahead and leave.

For the record... I think that is total BS.

Be really mindful about quoting posters from Vols 247.That site was full of posters confirming the Gruden news that he was at that restaurant in Knoxville and it's not the first time something that was proven to be wrong in the last couple of weeks was posted over there.

After the Vols 247 site was hyping Mullen up the last week they posted this in a story a couple of hours ago.
"At least one important person close to Tennessee's search has reservations about the Vols hiring Mullen. His current salary of $4.5 million means he would come with a high price tag for a coach who ultimately has been unable to get the Bulldogs to the top of the SEC West and still has a losing conference record. There's also some concern about Mullen's personality and his relationships with past ADs.Mississippi State also is expected to make an earnest effort to keep Mullen in Starkville if Tennessee indeed does come calling — and there is interest from both sides."

Oddly enough, Flightaware had indicated a flight plan had been filed for ORL-STF earlier, with N700UT, but has since been removed.
