Emily Tanny’s mom played for the Hawks in the late 90’s, Amy Herrig, Really good player that played 3 seasons in the WNBA.
Playing as a freshman is a pretty good sign of things to come, but still seems so crazy to evaluate and offer some of these players when they are 13-16 years old. Hard to even know how they will play as they mature, but recruiting these days is what it is. Wonder what the full list of '28 and '29 offers looks like at this point.
Emily is a 6' 1" guard. Scored 39 as a freshman recently, I think she can play.
That's not the point. Don't imagine she would have an offer if she couldn't.
What do you think Iowa's needs are for 2029?
Too many variables. There are two classes (27 & 28) ahead of 29 plus the portal.
Not sure what your point is. The recruiting cycle has gotten earlier every year. Jhaliana Guy the best player from the 2028 class in Iowa committed to Stanford last year as a freshmen. You offer some of the top players you feel you'll need, period. Im sure Jan would take Emily early, in a heartbeat.
She didn’t play at a camp last week. She was in street clothes watching her Wahlert teammates. I would have liked to see her play live.

An offer I couldn't find much on. First time couldn't find a height for someone. Sure some site has it listed. Since a PF is also listed, she may be on the shorter side of center. She could just be very versatile and be taller as well.

Saw listed as 6-4 PF on prep girls hoops and 6-3 post on prospects nation.
Given the length of time involved do these offers mean anything other than telling someone "We think we might be interested in you, but we reserve the right to change our minds at any point in time."
It gives time to build relationships and probably narrow down the list to see which girls are genuinely interested in Iowa.
I would like to see the letter these prospects receive from the universities which formally extend an offer.
There is a reason they say "after a phone call"
They cannot be given an official offer until June 15th following their sophomore year.
Its crazy how far out these offers are getting, especially considering most top level schools are probably taking fewer high school players now with the portal and 5 for 5 rule in play. I mean if a player commits a couple of years ahead of even graduating, you're pretty much tied to her at that point.
Exactly, and like I said the top twenty teams are probably going to be taking fewer high school players now given the new environment of recruiting.

You search around and you will see pictures of them
If the person accepts the offer they are guaranteed the scholarship for four years.
Is that still true? I have read where transfers sign a contract, some for a year, others for multiple years with a escalators.
