A bit of a surprise.
It has been clear that the new upper deck seats (the ones near the heavens) have been going over about as well as a turd in a punch bowl with fans.
Thousands of unsold season tickets in those sections alone.
That is not a surprise.
What is a surprise - to me - especially after they had the 1/2 price sale - was that those seats would not have been snapped up for at least the USC/White Out game. I figured more-or-less every seat in the house would have sold for that one.
But still scads left - and now PSU is offering them to Students - at Student Ticket prices (around $250 for the season ticket).... which, of course, includes the White Out game w USC.
Penn State's "list price" for those seats via their Ticketmaster site - for JUST THE ONE GAME vs USC - was over $400 per (I think $403 per, IIRC). But now they are selling them - or hoping to - for $250 for the whole season's worth of games (Also, FWIW, when they have done that in the past - trying to sell unsold tickets NOT in the student section to students who didn't get seats, it never went over well.... but I think in the past it was always done on a game by game basis. But the students generally are not very interested in sitting in non-student seats. These are very close - some are adjacent to - the less desirable parts of the student section though, so maybe that will work out better).
