Well, first of all, the Campbell hiring was a complete surprise. I recall immediately after JF was fired...
It went Rhule, then Urban Meyer was "interested"....but Kraft wasn't . LOL Then the morons here took over.
Marcus Freeman
Curt Cignetti
Mike Elko
Who could forget the BWICAC opening praying for Deboer to lose at Alabama so he would come to PSU to win? LOL
then came the Sitake embarrassment

Josh Heupel
Jeff Brohm
Eli Drinkwitz
Brent Key
and briefly Alex Golesh.
I honestly don't recall Matt Campbell being discussed much if at all into he fell into Kraft's lap and saved his *** for the moment.
Once Kraft had completely screwed up the process, I did hope he would get Bob Chesney. I suppose it's a toss up between Chesney and Campbell. My take is that Campbell is probably the higher floor and Chesney the higher ceiling. I just thought being a PA native and coal region product would have created a lot of buzz.
Unfortunately, my belief that for PSU to improve on Franklin's performance is more about (increased NIL to lure studs) $$$ considered anti MC. If the coach were Marcus Freeman and we're still recruiting as in the past.....why would you predict "excellence at the highest level?"
BTW......you probably could care less. But why do you resort to name calling other posters. "Morons"?? Not cool my friend.

Why would Taylor and Hall be watching to see if Dean flips? They both have committable offers, no?
My thought was that Taylor and Hall want to see what Dean does and maybe they go elsewhere if for example Taylor commits and Dean stays then Hall would see it as a crowded room and go somewhere else. Just speculating

But it looks like Taylor may commit and Hall also based on CBs so they are not waiting for Dean apparently.

If we can get Taylor and Hall then losing Dean is not horrible by any means but if we could somehow get all three, wow!

If the level of talent isn’t better here than it was at Iowa State, it will be tough to win in this league. The B1G is a much different animal than the Big 12.
Understood. He didn’t take his entire roster from Iowa State. He took the players he knows can compete in the Big 10. There are players on his roster that can do it. The rest are players recruited to PSU and some other portal guys that can play in the Big 10. I don’t assume his players are not capable. I assume the opposite.

The Georgia insiders feel Dean is still PSU-bound. I think it is very possible we end up with all 4 WRs, which is beyond anyone’s wildest expectations.

There is a limit on how much those wealthy donors are willing to give. Money going to one purpose isn't going to another.

Reports have Adidas paying Tennessee $20 million a year, and they have a pretty good basketball team (two in most years). Why does PSU get more? Don't know. Folks in Herzogenaurauch are probably asking the same questioin.
Maybe Kraft did a good job with it?

With what is shaping up to be an excellent WR haul in '27 along with a HC and WR coach who can develop that position group.....well folks we could very well have a real passing game that challenges elite secondaries.

I agree for the current roster. I was referring to future talent acquisition.

Who in this class is going to pressure the qb? Tough to win with no pass rush.
Sure but you can say that about every position. Who’s going to throw the ball? Who’s going to catch the ball? Who’s going to run the ball? Who’s going to lock down opposing WRs? Who’s going to shut down the run game? We got a lot of those answers. I do hope we can land some quality edges. But don’t act like we aren’t taking care of things pretty much all around. Remember, BGJ ignored WRs, LBs, and DTs for years which contributed to his team imploding when it did.

I agree....of all the names you mention...Campbell and Chesney were at the top of my list. I will say that after listening to both men, Campbell seems more sincere and real. Chesney comes across like a car salesman at times.
Ahhhh…but what about coal country-ness?!!

He ignored WR, LB, and DT? How so?

Ignored may not be the right word but failed or underperformed could be the right label. Ever since Parker Washington we have not had a productive WR so that is 3 years. LB has been middling and we saw the collapse with Rojas going down. Not great depth. DTs same story, inability to get a good pass rush or make disruptive plays, average.

That’s fair, I guess. Seems like a blanket statement though. I’m not sure the WRs weren’t talented, maybe just undercoached? Or underutilized? Those that transferred were productive elsewhere. The LBs may have suffered from stubbornness of the coaching staff to play the same players despite the younger guys flashing at times. Rojas looked great, when healthy. They brought in Campbell from the portal and he played fast and led the team in tackles last year. Tatsch looked good with limited opportunities. DTs were a mixed bag. Durant had a great Jr season, but dropped off last year. Gilliam flashed at times last year. I wish he would have stayed.

Belichik is proving to be a fool himself!
In the eyes of a fan boy anonymously passing judgement in his "home office." You should be such a fool.... independently wealthy and in possession of 6 Super Bowl rings as a HC and widely regarded as one of the best defensive minds in the history of the NFL with an additional 2 rings as a Giant DC.
Yes, fortunately none of us are fools like Billy B. :sneaky:

You don't agree that those who thought Freeman, Cignetti or DeBoer were coming here are "special needs" fans?
I think it's fair since I didn't specify an individual. In fairness (to your criticism) there are 2 or 3 here than qualify. So, I wear the guilt.

Let's hope HCMC can win 13 games with no WR, LBs and DTs.
