So is Kayla McPherson making a comeback, or she's done for her basketball career, and just take up a roster spot as a redshirt?
What prompted this? She’s retired unless any new information has come to light
I don’t think she should be counting as a scholarship at this point either, not positive on that though
No, Kayla M. is part of the coaching staff. She does not have a scholarship as a basketball player any more. I am sure that CB was paying her something for being a student assistant.
I was told that if you redshirt medically that you stay on scholarship but it's not counted towards your active roster. I'm not sure if that's true or not. Regardless, this was her fifth year... so assuming she wouldn't be taking up a scholarship anymore.
Yeah, at first, it was a medical redshirt, but then KM change that to retiring from basketball. If you are retiring from basketball because of medical reasons, then you cannot be considered a medical redshirt any longer. That is why she is not listed under the roster as a player, but as part of the coaching staff as a student assistant. Her scholarship should be open now anyway.
Wait I'm confused now, so you're saying. Instead of the 1 scholarship opening due to liza transferring or exploring the transfer portal there are 2 open?
No, we stopped counting McPherson before this season started; we had a full roster of 15 this spring and summer, she medically retired just before teh season and became a team manager. So we rolled with a 14 player roster.
But this did allow Bofia to enroll in the spring and redshirt.
Since then, we there have been a bunch of players leaving and committing, but we now stand at 14 for next season.
