Any idea why it is so thin? I suspect Rhule wants to go heavy on the portal in 2026 and needs to keep the roster additions light. I'm guessing it will be on the order of 20 transfers to fill the OL, DL and the other senior departures (which aren't many).
In this class, only thing that matters is getting as many proven Ol’ and DL as possible! Sprinkle in a couple corners..😉. Spend big bucks!

I feel good about corner next year. Marshall as the #1 and Jones as #1. That being said, I could certainly be talked into getting a stud portal cb and moving Jones to FS. I think he has physicality for safety.

Quality is the key, need to get the same type players as tOSU, Usc, Mich to compete on a higher level, i hope this crew can do that year in and out.

Depending on how you look at it, aren't about all high school recruits projects?

When I look at the class, I only see three projects. But there's a difference to me between diamond in the rough and high upside prospect. We've got some good guys coming in.
Not really. Was Jeremiah Smith? A lot of these high school recruits are rady to be top players day one. We even had a couple in past decades with guys like Ahman Green.

Well, according to some of these recruiting experts and especially Damon Behning cause he used to say it a lot, Nebraska before Rhule went after a lot of recruits that they thought would be ready to play early. I remember it clearly. They HAVE to be ready to play or "ready made" as I think Damon used to say. And how did that turn out? Not good. There were a few guys who did play early but they didn't have much upside either. Most of those guys were busts.

And yeah, Jeremiah Smith was ready to play right away. Rhule is going after guys like that in the 2027 class but as it turns out, it seems that a lot of other teams are going after the obvious 5 star kids.

Guthrie and Donovan Jones were rated at 5.5 3*. They are starting, but were far from blue chip prospects.
Guthrie was stud high schooler who had an injury that hurt his recruitment. He’s a good example of a guy who has flourished in a college setting. Tom made a career out of filling out his rosters with guys like that who fit with the difference makers like Rozier, Frazier, Green, Fryar, Gill etc. National championships are won with a bunch of role players fitting in the holes between the All Americans.

The question will be whether or not we have the cap space to keep the young guys we like….

You have to have money set aside for any high school player you bring in that is worth anything. I don't think it is about scholarships but NIL payments. The kids are going to start to leverage for pay as soon as they can, whether in high school or at the end of their freshman year. Reps and meeting time is finite and you cannot waste it on kids who are going to thrive somewhere else. I think eventually players will get escalating contracts to keep them at one school to develop and build a culture but right now it is just chaos. Rhule wants to go the HS route but obviously you can't just manifest OLineman and Dlineman quickly through 18 year olds...you just have to buy those positions every year.
