PSU finally released the WSOC schedule, so I can start the 2026 thread. Please use this thread to discuss the PSU WSOC 2026 summer/fall season, the postseason (B1Gs & NCAAs), and then offseason news about the team, former players, etc.

There was some great content in the 2025 PSU WSOC Thread. You can access that at:

PSU scores 2 goals within 1:19 in the 2nd half, to go up 2-0, over the #2 Notre Dame!

PSU has been the better team throughout the game, which usually (not always) leads to goals in the 2nd half in soccer. About 37 minutes left in the game.

ND gets a goal on a PK, with 21:33 left in the game. A tough call against PSU, in that it wasn't called on the field, but came on a video challenge by ND. PSU's GK and the ND attacker were both going for a ball in the air, the ND attacker got there just before the GK and headed it out of bounds, and then the GK and the attacker collided. Plays that are so bang-bang like that really frustrate me when they go to video review, as what happens in slo-mo is not all that indicative of what happens in real time on 50-50 balls.

2-1, PSU

Final score, 2-2 @ #2 ND. That's a strong start to the season!
We'll see. ND already played to a 0-0 tie at home with unranked SoCon team Samford in their first game this season.

Sustaining possession against quality teams appears like it will be an issue again just like last season. PSUs 2 goals came off of long balls that advanced the ball over/past midfield with 1 of them leading to a pass an open player on the way to the goal and the other with Kulpa beating a girl one-on-one to break free. The game never felt secure up 2-0.

Thanks for the detailed info. I had no TV coverage so I looked at current rankings and assumed it was a strong performance against a higher ranked team. Is PSU's starting lineup younger or more experienced?

Pretty similar. I tried to match up the starters from the last game last year experience-wise, not position-wise, to the starters this year to give you a fair comparison.

Returning starters from the last game last year starting the first game this year were Gress, Martin, Herr, Ayscue and Jordan.

Transfers Boyden (Gr.), Antonucci (Sr.), and Kalal (Sr.) also started this game replacing players that graduated.

Johnson (Fr.) started this game but that was a wash experience-wise replacing Cross (Fr.) who started the last game last year and transferred out.

Kulpa (Jr.) missed the end of last year with an injury, but she started the first game this year. You can also say she is a wash experience-wise with Burger (R So.) who started the last game last year but was on the bench at the start of this first game.

Bang (So.) started this first game this year. That was the only noticeable drop of experience as she would replace a player that graduated.

MacBean could be replaced experience-wise, but it is yet to be seen if she can be replaced scoring-wise.
