The Schwarber HR gives me flashbacks of playing as a youngster when most baseball fields were actually in a field. Whenever there was a HR hit, a group for little kids would run out into the hay field/corn field to get the ball. It wasn't a souvenir. They'd bring the ball back and toss it to the home plate umpire. Budgets were tight and balls were used until they were beat to hell and back.

Too many announcers in the booth for Netflix's broadcast of the Field Of Dreams game. And they need to learn to shut up. smh

The Phils bad base running cost them a few weeks ago. Tonight, Marsh with a fantastic slide to steal 2nd when he was dead out. Instead of Crawford making the 3rd out next, the inning continues and the Phils get 3 more runs.

The Cubs are in - a winning streak would help - SD and AZ are playing for the playoffs with different competition our west - St. Louis will not go away, and the Marlins will always be a problem.

Win or go home !

One strange quirk is that we end the season with the 2 best clubs by record - Rays and Brewers. Ordinarily that would not be good, but both could easily have wrapped up home field - even #1 seed - and have nothing to play for. Phillies fans should keep an eye on their games as much as SD/Az/etc

I'll say it..............KUDO'S to Aaron Nola for his strong pitching in the last 4 games, when we, the fans, were bitching about having no #4 or #5 SP's! He will be key (along with the current Painter performance's) going down the stretch.
Still think it was a horrible deal they signed him to ,,,,but you are correct is he will be a key to get to playoffs

In the playoffs, you need three quality starters, one good long relief and a quality bullpen.

We have three quality starters (Sanchez, Wheeler and Luzardo) Nola and Painter might be quality long relief and we've got some good late inning relievers. This is setting up nice for us IF WE CAN SCORE SOME RUNS.

Time to come to a decision - Painter is only a Minor League pitcher and that is all - time to move on.

Maybe so, but it doesn't matter who's pitching if you can't score any runs.
Offense disappears much too often.
Take too many good pitches and swing at too many bad pitches.
Are they trying too hard to run up pitch counts?
