2026 NCAA Championship Session VI Thread

[Misalorales]

I feel like there's more blood than I'm used to seeing this tournament. Everyone's just bleeding everywhere lol

[RBOld]

I don't know why but I hope Barr runs over to the line and stands there like a doofus with his hand out after he wins this.

[FK3JM]

why the Eff do we keep wrestling to this cheese dick Oklahoma state style. Don’t let them block, circle and stall. Suddenly Barr is taking his time and letting this bum stay close.

[JoePaMajorCFBrecord409Ws]

We Need Barr and Luke to Win to Break the Record.

Actually just need 1 to win to break record.

[Misalorales]

And it should have been 7 for 8 in the semis and 5 champs.

Shoulda could woulda who cares. This isn't the Iowa board. Let's go barr

[LeviHainesGoat]

I’ll probably get hammered for this, and maybe it’s premature, but it doesn’t feel like we peak as well for NCAAs these past couple of years. As the team got more involved in freestyle with better results maybe.

I think since we’ve had more guys in finals and semis that it’s more losses just based on more and also more emphasis on freestyle

197 Final - #1 Josh Barr vs. #7 Cody Merrill (OKST)

Period 1:
Here we go. Circling, tying up & hand fighting. Barr with a big snap off the whistle. He tries an underhook, but Merrill pulls out of it. Heavy collar ties in the center of the mat. Barr with some face taps. Barr tries an underhook to the leg, but Merrill blocks him off. Barr attacks again, but Merrill blocks him off again. Collar ties & hand fighting. Barr snaps. He drops to a leg, but Merrill fights out of it. Heavy collar ties & pushing in the center of the mat. Barr with some more big snaps. Merrill isn't doing much other than blocking off all of Barr's attempts. Barr shoots & gets a double, then finishes the TD, 3-0. Sweet TD! Barr gets Merrill bellied out on the mat & we're stopped for something. Blood time. Cleaning that up couldn't wait until the period ended in 13-sec? Back to action. Merrill works to his feet, then turns & gets the escape, 3-1 & time quickly expires. Thanks for the restart ref. 3-1 Barr

Period 2:
Merrill takes down & gets a quick escape, 3-2. Circling, hand fighting & tying up. More of the same for a bit. Barr shoots & gets to a leg, but Merrill fights him off. Back to hand fighting & tying up in the center of the mat. More of the same for a while. Tying up & hand fighting to end the period. 3-2 Barr, +31-sec RT

Period 3:
Barr takes down. He works to a quadpod. Merrill is hanging heavy on the back. Barr rolls & gets a reversal, 5-2. Merrill gets a locked hands call, point Barr, 6-2. Merrill fights for an escape, 6-3. Tying up & hand fighting again. Barr shoots. Stall call on Merrill, finally. Merrill gets an ankle too & it's a stalemate, neutral restart. Collar ties & hand fighting again. Merrill pushes forward a bit, 30-sec left. Merrill takes Barr to the edge & shoots. Barr counters & they go out of bounds, 20-sec left. Merrill charges forward. Barr gets a stall call. Out of bounds & restart. Merrill shoots, but Barr circles away & time expires.

Josh Barr DEC Cody Merrill 6-3

Josh Barr takes 1st Place!

[Psalm 1 guy]

A win by either will break the record by .5

Just no post match headgear throw celebration allowed : )

[zzs006]

Maybe it’s because we’re sending more guys, but I bet our semi final and final win % has decreased recently.

I think the 75% in the semis this season is a little below the standard. That said Duke got screwed. Should have been 7 out of 8 which would’ve higher

[PSUcup]

No idea why Barr is playing into Merrill’s hands here

[WEAREPSU_LI]

Is Merrill doing anything whatsoever? Has he even feigned to shoot?

[Tom McAndrew]

[Pocono Lion]

******* blood time stoppage with 13 seconds left. The only way Merrill was getting out was on a restart.

[PSUcup]

This makes zero sense

[Misalorales]

Cody merril is doing absolutely nothing

[YeOldeCup]

Absolutely zero offense from Merrill

[WEAREPSU_LI]

Merrill is a god awful wrestler to watch. Holy crap.

[WV lion]

Criminal no stall calls

[GamesVanDerBeek]

Heh, “cheese dick” maybe I'm just searching for silver linings but that cracked me up

[ZouaveLion]

Is Merrill doing anything whatsoever? Has he even feigned to shoot?

Oklahoma Stallers....other than Jax

[Psalm 1 guy]

I think that locks up the Hodge for MM.

[PSUcup]

Both guys got hit for stalling.
If that doesn’t tell you these refs ******* suck

[Misalorales]

Great job wrestling that dead fish Barr!!

[Wilbur Kookmeyer]

Barr is your 197lb NCAA Champion!

[ElDuce]

Merrill zero offense

[cb1994]

Respect to Barr taking the regular decision to give Mitch the hodge

[Nittering Nabob]

Merrill’s GF is nasty. You don’t want any part of her

[RBOld]

Merrill did his job there. What a clown.

[Tom McAndrew]

Barr with the 6-3 DEC. His 1st match all year where he didn't bonus.

PSU sets a new scoring record in the team title race with this win

[Sneedram55]

Josh Barr!!!!!!
Congrats to Merrill for that 1 shot he took with :20 seconds left in the match.

[Cali_Nittany1]

Merrill had absolutely nothing. Great job Josh keeping the pressure on. Another champ!

[NittanyChris]

ATTA BOY JOSH!!!

National Champ! INCREDIBLE season!

[Lil Nicky Scarfo]

And they wisely won't break to by much, so that they can do it again next year. Love it when a plan comes together

Like Sergei Bubka used to do. He’d get record bonuses so he kept breaking the record by like a quarter inch at a time

[jack66]

Maybe it’s because we’re sending more guys, but I bet our semi final and final win % has decreased recently.

Our semi-final win % was unsustainable.

[Tom McAndrew]

[Sir Pin Alot]

Merrill’s GF is nasty. You don’t want any part of her

We are better than that... Lol

[Dogwelder]

Is Merrill doing anything whatsoever? Has he even feigned to shoot?

Coma Merrill does not deign to feign.

[PSUcup]

Great season Josh!

[Tom McAndrew]

[marylovesthelions]

If MM does not get the Hodge now, they should discontinue it. Josh was the closest.
