Some scuttlebutt floating around about Arsenal signing Vinicius Junior.

@BobPSU92

Liverpool is playing Wrexham tonight in a friendly. In the Meadowlands, I believe. 7:30 on ESPN. I’ll probably catch it, it will be fun to see Wrexham going full blast for bragging rights.

Howe stepping down at Newcastle now is pretty odd timing. I'm guessing Bruno G is gone soon to Arsenal and they already lost Tonali to Spurs. Isak to Liverpool last year....cannot say I blame him.

Maybe not, as it seems increasingly likely that Vinicius ends up at Arsenal. Arsenal signed Guimaraes today.
Vinicius stays with Real Madrid. I am rotten glad that this back-and-forth farce is over. I had read an article saying that Vini was a poor fit into Arteta’s defensive philosophy so I’ll let that console me.

The tables all show Bournemouth on top, with Arsenal in 2nd, and I was like, WTF? Turns out it’s AFC Bournemouth. 🙄

Perhaps not the best place for this, and few may care, but I just saw a commercial for the Bundesliga on USA and Fandango starting this season. Interesting read here:

Huh, don’t know how I missed that. Well I guess my concerns about if ESPN Unlimited would be available on YouTube TV in time for the start of the season were unfounded. However, I don’t have Fandango. Hopefully BvB will be on USA more often than not.

Here are the rule changes coming into this year. I just wish it was 5 minutes a man down for those flopping, rolling around, and faking injuries. 1 minute will not deter this IMO, but play a man down in extra time for 5 minutes and let a team lose that way. That player will be shredded and rightfully so. I also like the 5 second restart rule....move it along.

  • On-Field Treatment Duration: Outfield players receiving medical assessment or treatment on the pitch must stay off the field for at least one full minute of playing time after play restarts. This doubles the previous 30-second rule to deter tactical injury delays. [1, 2, 3]
  • Strict Substitution Exit Limits: Substituted players are required to leave the field within 10 seconds. If they exceed this time, the incoming substitute cannot enter until the first natural stoppage after one running minute has elapsed, temporarily forcing their team to play with 10 men. [1, 2]
  • Restart Reversals: Referees can start a visual five-second countdown if they believe a player is intentionally delaying a goal kick or a throw-in. If the limit is broken, the restart is reversed, converting a delayed throw-in over to the opposition, and turning a delayed goal kick into an opponent's corner. [1, 2]
  • Extended VAR Scope for Red Cards: Video Assistant Referees are now empowered to review second yellow cards if the resulting caution leads to an incorrect red card. Note that VAR still cannot intervene to suggest a first yellow card. [1, 2]
  • Hair-Pulling Discipline Clarification: Deliberate hair pulling without excessive force has been designated a clear yellow card offense, giving refs explicit guidelines after multiple controversial incidents last season. []
  • Squad-Cost Ratio Rules (SCR): The league has permanently implemented the new spending framework, replacing the old Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). The rule enforces a cap on squad spending based on a set percentage of a club's total revenues, mirroring UEFA's financial model. [1]
