Anyone know when the 2025 B1G schedule gets released w/dates? Any rumors on 3rd OOC opponent?

Is it unusual not to have the third ooc game set up by now? How will this get done without an AD?

I don't know when the league releases the 2025 Big 10 schedule, but I have read on this site that Oregon, Ohio State, Iowa, and Pedd State are on RU's schedule next season.

Correct. 2025 conference games:

Home: Penn State, Oregon ,Iowa, Maryland

Away: Ohio State, Washington, Illinois, Minnesota, Purdue

Quite the step up from this year's schedule. That is why some of the agnst over this seasons outcome. The schedule was a huge benefit with avoiding the top Big Ten teams.

3rd OOC game will be vs a local FCS scrub or an HBCU school. Bank on it.

A step up but 4-5 winnable games - the losses will be worse though

I think the floor is 5-7, ceiling 7-5 with next year's slate. 2025 season will come down to 4 games IMO: at Minnesota, at Illinois, at Washington, and home vs Iowa. Find a way to split those 4 games, sweep OOC and handle Purdue and Maryland.

Yes, on paper, but not sure it really matters when RU managed to lose 5 B1G games this season. Pre-season many figured USC was an automatic loss, but nobody saw Illinois as a ranked team, and that was our closest loss (not by the score alone, but having had the game won). Also, a "down" Wisconsin killed RU, while RU handled a relatively "up" Minnesota. One could say with losses to UCLA, Wisconsin and USC, and a win against Minnesota and a near win over Illinois, RU played to the level of the opponent? Anyway, here is something to cause RU fans to pucker in the off season:

What's on paper isn't necessarily what happens in practice. It's all year to year, especially with player movement. Oregon will have to replace Gabriel. Washington just started breaking in a new qb this past weekend. OSU will have a new qb too. Minnesota as well. I think Illinois could be as well. So that's a handful of teams just off the top of my head that will be starting new qbs next year. Kotelnicki has been brought up as a candidate for a couple jobs so might not be around as OC for PSU, so who knows.

That's a brutal home conference schedule. I would be ecstatic to split those 4 games. AK will have to put up some big numbers.

Or the defense may "have to" play lights out and truly be on the dark side.
Early predictions with Mo Toure back:

Rutgers 3 Iowa 2
Rutgers 10 Penn State 6
Rutgers 14 Oregon 13

My prediction threads were nearly perfect, except for Illinois. Bet hard on those calls!! 🙃

A few comments- saw that OSU and Oregon is going to have new QB's- does anyone think that stops either NFL team?

On the other hand- having AK and our WR's in the system for another year is incredible- I can see teams going after Duff in a big way- he just showed everyone he is a 6ft6 true game breaking WR. Imagine him on a Elite team. Strong may be more polished but I think Duff is the guy who may get the big offers.
As for RB- Almost hated to see Raymond get the B1G freshman award this week. The kid can ball and just pushed up his value.

We keep this group together and if we can get the OL solidified, the offense may be the best we have had in years.

No way to know. A new QB derailed FSU who had a big budget. Going from Travis to DJU was a big part of what sunk them.

Michigan not having a qb also hurt them, the national champion.

So you can’t assume. Maybe they keep rolling along or maybe they don’t. Odds favor more likely yes than no but you can’t know for sure.

So many things in CFB people make assumptions about be it players, coaches or what have you. In the end you get an array of outcomes, a good number of which are unexpected. Just have to wait and see.

As far as Oregon and Ohio State, it might not matter. Oregon had to replace Bo Nix this year. Ohio State tossed last year's starter out like trash.

Graham Mertz was the object of ire for Badgers fans. Florida Gators happily took him and he did well until he got injured. In an ironic twist of fate, Wisconsin's transfer QB went down, and so did their season under their backup--except he looked like Johnny Unitas against Rutgers.

Just like that New Hampshire QB we made look like Unitas in 2004.

Agree on 7-5 ceiling next year. It's going to be either a huge slap upside the head back to reality or we really make tremendous growth in talent AND depth. If growth, 7 wins would be amazing. This year our ceiling was legitimately 10 or 11 wins. We played NO ONE in what has to have been the easiest schedule in B1G history. Illinois was our only opponent to win more than 7 games.

The only really bad B1G team this season was Purdue. And we didn't play them. All of the rest fielded competitive teams. What was our bad loss all season? Wisconsin? UCLA? We only got beat badly by Wisconsin. Pretty solid season. "Easiest schedule in B1G history" is hyperbole.

Not hyperbole at all. Playing a B1G schedule and having your toughest opponent be 9-3 Illinois is incredibly weak at the top end.

Way to early to throw in the towel against next years very tough schedule

The offense has dramatically inproved as the year progressed. We lose 2 key players but backups showed promise

The defense which was MIA at times loses 2 key players but gets 2 back. Several young players got substantial reps. Despite low zNil funds we can fill in depth with a few pickups

Really on 7-5 ceiling?
See 9-3 as the ceiling:
Wins: Iowa, Illinois, Maryland, Washington, Minnesota, Purdue
Win the OOC games. 9-3/6-3 in conference.

With is schedule-
Auto Losses: PSU, OSU, Oregon
Tossups leaning toward a loss: Iowa
Tossups: Illinois, Washington, Minny
Should win: Maryland
Auto Win: Purdue

And win the 3 OOC

5 wins would be the floor...7 wins expected

Illini and IU with some weak-*** B1G schedules!!!

Illini OOC - W Illinois, W Mich, @ Duke

Hoosiers OOC - ODU, Kennesaw St (lol...), Indiana St - that's TWO FCS games, lol.....BUT they do have PSU, Iowa and The Ducks on the road

Maybe look at some of the schedules played by B1G west teams when we had divisions.
They still had 3 crossover games with the East.

If you can find a year where the West champion was 9-3 AND a West team managed to avoid PSU, Mich and OSU (and MSU wasn’t good), you have only found a schedule that was equally bad as what RU just had.

I don’t want to play down that we avoided the top four teams in the conference, but we also didn’t play two perennial bottom feeders in B1G West - Purdon’t and the Fighting Mandels.

The B10 schedule for the next handful of years was released after expansion to 18. The actual dates won’t be set until closer to the season. I don’t remember when in the offseason that usually is.

The 2024 date schedule was released on November 2, 2023. Times don't get released until closer to the schedule, dates are usually out way earlier

Well to be fair, everytime one of those West teams best us many immediately said "they are actually really good and likely winning the West" before finishing 7-5.
So the West must have been very underrated.
