2025 NCAA Championship Session VI Thread

What/why was Cael engaging the referee about?

Wanted a stall call, which would have given mitchell a major thus, more team points.

[Grove Lion]

I missed the explanation. Why was Mitch down after the injury in the 1st? No takedowns... why?

[ptomaselli]

Cael mad about the stall call? I have never seen that side of him.

Man is it fun to watch MM!!

Yeah, that was Cael going postal. So calm. He’s right though. Caliendo ran away the entire bout. He only decided to shoot when he had to.

During an injury timeout, the non injured wrestler can take bottom to get an escape and a point.

I'm sure I saw Caliendo throw an elbow to MM ribcage at the end. I've never seen Cael that animated

Glad to see Cael go off on them. The refs have promoted this style of wrestling which has aloud wrestlers to do nothing and get rewarded. It cost a couple of our wrestlers matches and I think Cael’s had enough. You need to reward the wrestler trying to score and pushing the pace.

Cael wants all the points!

[razpsu]

No no you just don’t get it. He’s growing the sport and it’s not about him. Not even political. Carter is lucky to be in the same building!

Think Carter was very happy to talk with our president,

I seen it too! Told my wife immediately Mikey Doo just gave Mitchell an elbow.

[razpsu]

I thought that would be the case. He's simply not used to it and doesn't like that they stole his shine. Can't blame him.

ESPN is all about gable. Period. They want him to put his shoes back on the mat moment.

[Tom McAndrew]

[EDHOLLAPSU]

Should win it by what the criteria is but Gable will cause they love him

Guessing that video will be posted for those of us that missed. I hope.

[Psuproud]

That was close

[ElDuce]

That's sure if you're gonna overturn that in the championship match. But they did

[Georgialion]

Not at all, as time isn't an element in those calls. The NCAA tweaked the rules a few years ago, and instituted mandatory stall calls if you're not engaged with the other wrestler, and step off the mat (over the line) to avoid a takedown. CStar backed off in both cases, and wasn't engaged with Keckeisen when he did so, so the ref had no choice.

[Tom McAndrew]

FWIW, I thought it should be overturned.

[BlueAndWhite86]

Great win Dean!

[Tom McAndrew]

wow, a wild scramble in OT, and Hamiti is awarded a TD. Mizzou throws a brick challenging the TD call.

Edit: The call is confirmed, and Hamiti defeats O'Toole, 4-1, SV-1

[OhioLion]

I’d hate to have had a drinking game that you take a shot of liquor for every brick thrown. Sheesh.

[EDHOLLAPSU]

Wisconsin coaches have to be so sad lol

[hohmadw1978]

Entertaining match between O’Toole and Hamiti.

[ElDuce]

Let's go Barr! Last match of the night

[razpsu]

Guessing that video will be posted for those of us that missed. I hope.

Yea. He threw it right into Mitchel’s ribs. Ref yelled at him. He didn’t look Mitchell I. The eye when they shook hands. Total poor sport. Great speech by Mitchell at the interview.

[Tom McAndrew]

[gpsu88]

Yes, we agree Mitch

[Tom McAndrew]

[ElDuce]

I wonder if Caliendo changes WT class next year. 174 maybe, Arnold is not very good.

[EDHOLLAPSU]

Damn

[BlueAndWhite86]

Darn

[Tom McAndrew]

Barr loses 5-2 to Buchanan.

[hohmadw1978]

Josh did not have the strength to turn Buchanan into a takedown.

[BobPSU92]

What is this referencing?

[BobPSU92]

So iowa is buchanan’s third program. Rented, not developed.

[hohmadw1978]

Excellent performance by Josh coming off the leg injury after the Big Ten Championships.

[Psuproud]

A fullsize and healthy Barr wins this tourney
