Could be my imagination but it seems like ESPN did a much better job showing brief highlights, pins, end of match scoring, etc., in previous NCAA’s. Maybe I’m trying to say that there seemed to me to be more PSU spotlights throughout the tourney. Maybe that all happens Saturday…

285 R1: #3 seed Greg Kerkvliet vs. #30 seed Sam Mitchell (Wyoming)

I'll use SM for Sam

Per 1
Kerk with a sleeve over the left knee. Byers says he injured it at practice. A bit of a scramble and Kerk with the TD, 3-0. Kerk riding well, but not having much luck tilting him. SM is flat. He finally does tilt him, but SM rolls through. There was a stall warning on SM. Sorry, I had to look away to deal with something and I see that 4 NF were awarded. 7-0. End RT @ 2:12 for Kerk

Per 2
I'm not sure who took what, but it looks as though SM was on bottom.. Kerk tilts him, and gets 4 NF, so it's 11-0. Another Stall call makes it 12-0. Kerk tries to lock a cradle, and can't get it. End. RT @ 4:12 for Kerk

Per 3
Kerk takes neutral. Kerk working an underhook, nothing. Kerk in on a single and gets the TD, making it a 15-0, TF, @ 5:31

PSU goes 10-0 in Session I

Ruh-roh: Kerkvliet got a sleeve or brace on his left leg. That's new.
Was not expecting that. Your lower half is so important for explosiveness in finishing. I’m concerned about that for both Barr and Kerk with the leg injuries. More so for Barr as he’s undersized at 197 and has a stacked bracket.

Tom Brands?
When I listen to Brands interviewed, I’m fine with him. His matside antics are asinine though. I thoroughly enjoyed the BTN Brands special other than they played it waaay too much. With that being said, they have a few screws loose. And they get their attitude from their mother.

Good point. Manning may be more annoying.

The first session ended around 3:50pm...
next year someone might want to know this.
A little off topic, but has anyone ever noticed the Trainer for Michigan? If you look closely he looks like he came right off the set of ‘Braveheart’.

Also, that trainer looks like the comedian Gallagher.

So I’m not gonna pretend like I’ve followed along here. But holy crap great first session. Davis and Beau need a little more but ummm I thought they’d break the record and they’re going even better than that. Enjoy this fellas
