2025 - 2026 Premier League thread

Eleven freaking minutes injury time.

Final: Newcastle 2, Liverpool 3

Rio with a late winner. All credit to Newcastle. They were much better than Liverpool today, even down a man.

Slot needs to fix Liverpool’s defense.

[Grant Green]

I didn't get to watch live. How in the world does Liverpool blow a 2-0 lead, up a man?

Can't imagine what the last few minutes of normal time and all of stoppage time looked like. Looking forward to watching tonight.

I’m the furthest thing from a Liverpool fan, but I’ll always be a fan of teenagers shining when the lights are the brightest. Sweet goal kid. Just wish he played for Everton haha

[BobPSU92]

On the match-winner, note that Szoboszlai lets the ball go by him and on to Rio. Either Rio called for it or Szoboszlai has eyes in the back of his head. I think the latter.

[Grant Green]

That foul was about as wreckless as they get. Virgil was very kind to pat him on the back after the red.

Virgil is all class.

This includes the Newcastle goals, as well as the Liverpool goals:

Watching first half of Liverpool and thinking how lucky they must have been to win this game. Then looked at the expected goals.
That's some Iowa level voodoo.

I HATE having to root for Liverpool. (Probably the only club capable of challenging the Gooners)

Quite the conundrum.

Arsenal’s Saka out for a month, bad hamstring. Whelp.

MU loses to Grimsly Town on pens in the League Cup. (Anytime you lose to a club with "Town" in their name, that's pathetic)

Colchester United vs. Tottenham (2019): Tottenham's most famous encounter with a lower-league club was in the Carabao Cup in September 2019. Colchester, a League Two side, surprisingly beat the Premier League club on penalties to advance to the next round, according to the BBC.

Giant killer games are awesome unless you're the EPL team going down. Grimsby deserved it...and Onana should be in prison for his stealing of a paycheck while playing in goal for United.

Very true. Arsenal was outplayed by MU. Will be interesting to see who can overcome early woes. I predict a draw. 1-1.

Boring is okay as long as you come away with points. Good goal, though.

With our luck, we could get even a bigger bean-counter than Levy.

Honestly, I don't know if it will make much difference. Unlike the standard stadium finances here in the States where it is directly tapped into the government(s) teat, the Spurs new stadium was financed with many private hands in the pot. Loans, private bonds, team equity, NFL investment, etc. They already had to refinance once back in 2019. The final cost of the stadium was 1B pounds. I don't remember how much is still owed after the refinancing.

Honestly, if it weren't for Levy, we might be worse off financially like Everton.

Levy was encouraged to resign. Will be interesting to see if they will spend now with the big boys. I’d like to see how this season plays out first with current additions.
