Bartlett didn't wrestle good. No shooting. I'm a little disappointed.

they met this season in the PSU - tOSU dual, with Beau winning in SV
Beau on a 22-match win streak
Per 1
Both with active feet early on. A lot of ear-to-ear after that. No real shots thru 1:30. Nothing thru 2. JM with a double and seemed to be in deep but Beau easily staved it off. JM with a double to a single, Beau with a whizzer, and the buzzer sounds. End
Per 2
JM takes bottom. He's to his feet, and returned. JM to his feet again, and returned. OOB with 1:41 left. JM to his feet, lifted, and returned JM to his feet again, and he's away after 35 sec, 0-1. Ear-to-ear a lot of the time. 30 sec left. End. RT @ 35 sec for Beau

Beau takes bottom. Beau works to a 4-pt stance, then his feet, and he hits a shoulder roll for the esc, 1-1. RT not a factor, as Beau has 19 sec. A collar tie convention. 1 min left. Beau shoots a single, JM with a counter, Beau with a whizzer, they scramble, and JM with a double for the TD with 12 sec left, 1-4. OOB with 6 sec left. End. Beau falls 1-4 to Jesse Mendez.

That was pretty ugly. Virtually no offense.
that was quintessential 2023 beau bartlett. zero attempt at offense. He knows he blew it, hopefully he gets back on his game for nationals.
Beau wrestling like he came out of the Iowa room.
Playing hand grab and head slap for 3 periods finally bit him.
That is basically how he has wrestled ranked guys his whole career.
Of our "top" guys, Beau seems to be the most venerable due to the lack of offense.
Yep I'm with you. I felt like this year he had started to show more interest in early offense, but this was exactly what it looked like the past 3.
That is totally correct, but he isn't going to change. He is who he is.
I can see Beau vs Mendez as the national final. Best of 3 would make it even more appropriate. Like Mendez's pace, variety, and aggressiveness.
Kasak almost had a pin in the 1st, 7-0 120 seconds in

Kasak with a quick double off the whistle for the TD, 3-0. OOB. Kasak nearly tilts him, and then he does, but then EM rolls thru. 4 NF makes it 7-0. Kasak with a good ride. He's worked a one-on-one a few times. Stoppage for PD with 36 sec left. EM to his feet, lifted and returned, and Kasak tilts him and gets the PIN @ 2:36!!!!!

9 PSU wrestlers place 3 rd or better. That is unreal. A healthy Starocci would have made it 10. So impressive!!!
What happens when Kasak wrestles at the right weight................
