That may just be the "fans love the QB with the clipboard" effect, though.
It could be a little bit, but usually the backup QB that fans are clamoring for is someone who the coaching staff is choosing not to play. I think it's a bit different in this case.

We are just speculating, just guessing.

I think Harper will not be the primary ball handler. That would be too much of an ask for a freshman who is supposed to play both ends, do the heavy lifting scoring and then have to handle the pressure of being the primary ball handler and the guy that runs the offense.
Have you seen Harper play? He (1) handles the ball as a primary lead guard a lot more than you think; and (2) is a really good distributor in that role. He doesn’t just go iso and look for his own shot.

I think the starting backcourt is going to be Harper and JWill, and they’re going to handle the ball about 50-50 or 60-40 either way.

Gavin was #34 recruit and he is close to being completely out of the rotation. Nothing is a given. I dont think Ace and Dylan have ever had to play defense.

A lineup of could struggle defensively
Davis
Harper
Griffiths
Bailey
Sommerville
I was never was on the Gavin hype as an immediate impact guy. He just had a lot to work on. The good news is his ceiling is high. Ace and Dylan are very different. Those guys are ready day 1 and could be All Big Ten players year 1. Probably not both but one of them will most likely be dominant. If I were to guess, Dylan and Ace lead RU in scoring next year. Outside chance Mag is close if he takes his game to the next level.

BTW, Pike has this years team playing good defense, which is shocking given who’s playing. Next year he will have a much more athletic team. The only issue is how young they are. So that will take some time to develop.

A little bit….i stand by that is a ton on his plate. He has never had to defend. He isnt a natural point guard.

We could potentially be a very good rebounding team next season. If the starting guards are Dylan and J Will that should be an extremely strong rebounding backcourt

Mag and Ace at the 3/4 should be very strong rebounding as well

The 5 could be questionable rebounding but that's TBD
