I instantly thought St John's

At Rutgers, he could push the pace with Cliff. If we ran more, Cliff could get soooo many buckets in transition. He always beats the other 5 down the court. Curbelo and Paul together... not sure how well that works, but Paul could be the spot up shooter with the ball in his hand less often when Curbelo is doing his thing. It should also make Rutgers extremely attractive for a scoring wing with Paul and Curbelo being able to dish and Cliff drawing attention

Downside is we would be a worse 3 point shooting team and commit more TO's. Lack of size on defense. He actually rebounds well.

Is he a Pike guy?

Wow this is a real thing.....I actually need to form an opinion (at lease in my mind) on this.

I honestly think I'd want him here. He is lightning fast with the ball in his hands.

He isn’t going anywhere to be bench player.
Would take him in a second. “Off the bench in a JY type role” is kind of nonsense because JY played 30 minutes a game even when he didn’t actually start. That’s not really being a “bench player”

Think you’re combining a couple of different thoughts. Off the bench in a JY-type role isn’t nonsense, the staff saw that he was more valuable as a spark plug given the fast pace he played with and the damage from his turnovers starting games. Curbelo is kind of similar at least in those regards.

Don’t think he comes here regardless.

Sorry, nonsense isn’t the right word. It wasn’t meant to be insulting to your post. I just mean that while he technically came off the bench he played starter minutes so I don’t think that is really the same as what is normally meant by “bench player”

All good, it’s probably irrelevant anyway. I’m assuming he wants starting title with starter minutes

Curbelo Would go amazing well with cliff ….amazing well. The issue would be we would have two really unselfish guys who don’t always shoot enough

Need to find a Jerome Coleman type to go with him.
I don't think that will be tough....in theory a 2 guard should be the biggest supply in the portal and not many schools needing a starting 2 guard who will probably the leading scorer

No thanks. Derrick Simpson fits that bill. Build around him and the core with SHARP SHOOTERS and BACKUP BIG… Caleb will probably return as well…

If Curbello wants to be coached instead of just negotiating a spot on a team, Pike has a track record of getting the best out of undisciplined players.

Need a Coleman type player regardless if Curbelo comes to Rutgers.

Pretty interesting name added to the portal. I think we recruited him way back, highly touted prospect that didn’t get much time and probably wants a starting role. UConn fans seem to be a mixed bag, them saying the game seemed too fast for him yet idk what you expect giving him like one minute spurts. Lot of upside here, but it seems we’re looking for a more vet guard to come in, yet we could have Calebs roster spot to take a chance with.

I can't remember but was JY an elite level defender before he came to RU? Wouldn't that be the more accurate comparison?
Never saw him play before Rutgers, but that is a fair point... also not sure how he was at Oregon either honestly. I really only watch B1G outside of March Madness

Interesting prospect. Supposedly a shooter. 34% as a freshman from 3
He definitely is talented. I recall him taking some questionable shots early in the shot clock. But freshman usually learn. Hopefully he is healthy now.

I've heard a few on this board hoping he would be in the portal so Rutgers could go after him.

I don't get it. Not a good shooter at all, below 30% on threes in each of his 3 seasons. Not a big scorer. He is a good perimeter defender.
If you watch him he just always seems to make the right play. Polar opposite of Curbelo.

I could see him in Jalen Miller’s role. He’s basically Miller with some offensive skill
