I found the article on the front page really interesting. very telling stats, and infuriating non-adjustments to them by the staff. some things:

Of all four passing depth categories (behind LOS, short, medium and deep), Martinez had the highest passing grade in deep passes of over 20 yards with a 91.9 grade. He attempted 61 deep passes and completed 29 of them, four were dropped by the receiver. Martinez ranked No. 50 in FBS in his pass grade on deep passes.

Martinez ranks No. 130 of 143 quarterbacks in the FBS with a 56.6 pass grade on short passes. Fifth-worst in the Power Five.

Roughly one-third of Martinez's passes were short (0-9 yards).

Does the staff self-scout at all? This was a welcome and very apparent improvement over AM's first 3 years, when he was horrible on deep throws, and as such we should've attempted a heck of a lot more than 60 balls 20+ yards downfield. Toure, Manning, Martin and Betts are all legit deep threats. Falck, too.

And don't start with the protection - Bryce Young was both pressured more and sacked more than AM this year en route to his Heisman.

Of the 53 quarterbacks in FBS that have a deep pass grade of over 90, Martinez has the second-lowest Big Time Throws percentage with 19.7 percent. He recorded 13 'excellent' throws, according to PFF.

PFF defines Big Time Throws as "a pass with excellent ball location and timing, generally thrown further down the field and/or into a tighter window."

Perhaps distrust played a factor given the fact AM still wasn't the most accurate with the deep ball, but the playmaking WRs clearly made a difference. I wish Frost & the banker would've given them A LOT more chances to go get the ball.

Absolutely could've swung a few games with our margin of defeat.

One thing, a very deep thrown ball, assuming no return on the int, would have probably been better than a punt for us

He was pretty damn good between the 20's. And abysmal inside the 20's. Moving on.
