Is NCAAM going to allow 7 guys on the court for each team next year?

Cal has an idea on what the current kids on the roster are going to do. If Quade leaves, Maxey could slide right in.

Immanuel Quickley
Ashton Hagans
Tyler Herro
Tyrese Maxey
Jemarl Baker

Young and inexperienced, but golly that is a LOT of talent.

Cal also loves his 3 guard lineups. Any 2 of the above list with Keldon at the 3 would be dangerous. Some combo of Richards/EJ/PJ/Vando/Wenyen at the 4/5.

Maxey is a combo guard. Def has the size to play off the ball and he's a really good shooter

Not to mention with that many guards no doubt 2-3 come back and we have experience the following year!

Add Baker to that as well.

With that many high level guards in the lineup I wonder if Cal is considering playing small ball at times situationally with 1 "big" on the floor (JV, EJ, PJ, Richards, Gabriel)

Also makes you wonder if our standard lineup plans to be 3 guards (counting KJ as a G) the majority of the time with KJ at the 3/4; PJ, Gabriel, EJ at the 4 and Richards, EJ at the 5.

I think that is exactly it. Cal would utilize a 3 guard lineup, maybe even 4 guard at various points throughout the year with Keldon playing the 4.

I don’t buy that Tucker is just now finding out about this, as it wasn’t hard to connect the dots after Tucker said possibly two more additions, one in HS and on a transfer; then Matt Jones said the one in HS was a guard; and Tucker really made repeated mentions of his story about Maxey last week.

I think Cal wants a loaded 2015 type team, and then that type of talent and depth could lead to more than usual returning the next year, and repeat cycle.

Holy crap! Cal is not messing around anymore. Still think Wiseman will end up reclassifying and if he ends up here too... juggernaut.

Could the FBI stuff be helping Cal with recruiting? If the flow of money to steer prospects to other schools has slowed or stopped in the wake of the scandal that might explain how hot Cal is right now on the recruiting trail.

I love it! Load the bus! Nothing makes great players like competition. If Green doesn’t have the confidence to win his playing time then he knows what to do. I want the best and most competive team on the floor. That is usually made up of the best players. If you are the best player at your position you can’t get recruited over.
Practices will be war and somebody out of the group should play well every night. Finding the right lineups, chemistry, etc I will leave to the coaches.

Let's assume Quade Green, Hami Diallo, and one of PJ/Wenyen/Vando also leave...

Backcourt - Ashton Hagans, Immanuel Quickley, Tyler Herro, Tyrese Maxey, Keldon Johson, Jemarl Baker
Frontcourt - EJ Montgomery, Nick Richards and 2 of PJ/Wenyen/Vando

That team is dangerous.

The downside is losing Knox, SGA, Wynard, SKJ, Hami, and likely at least one of PJ/Wenyen/Vando.

This won't stop people from penciling Wiseman and Carey into their lineups.

He'd be terrific with this squad. Stellar shooter. Quick. Dangerous off the bounce. Good body control in the air attacking the rim. 6'3, strong frame.

He's not *really* a PG, so it would be a perfect situation for him.
