Beating out schools like Villanova and Virginia would be a huge win... no offense to guys like Harper and Willis but we've got to be mixing it up with other big-time programs on the recruiting trail like we did with Mathis.

That would be about par for the course. Rice was in on Jenkins and Hart before Villanova and many thought Rice would get both. before you knew it Nova grabbed both of them. We have been on Dixon for a long time and now Nova has just offered him within the last 2 weeks.

OR....it could be Montez Mathis type situation....we got in early and stayed on him for a long time....even when the big boys came in, we got him because we had that long term relationship.

Willis, like Sheriden, were clearly underrated as recruits.

RU-Choppin, That sure would be nice if it did go down that way. Hopefully our being in so early will have an impact.

I was referring to Diego Willis, the kid from Mexico we offered. As far as I know we're the only offer and while it could work out, the odds are better when you're getting guys that other big schools want.

This is a kid i want bad

Jay wright is a Bucks county guy and the whole area is Gaga over Villanova. Think Ryan Arch

With nova being nova in this area...if they extend a legit commitable offer, they will be hard to beat

Get him to the SHU game to see the atmosphere.
What is more important to a top tier recruit winning or atmosphere with Seton Hall having a couple thousand fans at the RAC?Villanova is a top ten program that also has a strong fan base .Yes,this recruit would help Rutgers and we will have to wait and see what school he chooses.

Neither. Getting to the NBA is most important to them.

If you have a track record of getting guys to the league, particularly 1st round picks, you'll usually prevail over a program that doesn't.

As crazy as this may sound, we may compete better against Villanova on the basis of turning out nba draft picks as we do by winning tradition and atmosphere. We don’t compare well in any of these categories but the nova has not featured one and dones or high draft picks. They have some players in the league but not as many as one might think given their success. Trying to think other than Lowry who is really a star in the league or even getting a lot of PT. Again we don’t compare well and Dixon sounds like their type of prospect although not sure if he can shoot the three!

Okay but your answer doesn't support Rutgers chances of attracting Dixon. There also is the fact that many high school all americans and highly rated college players aren't drafted and therefore play over seas.

My answer was to the question:

I personally don't consider Dixon a "top tier recruit", but he is very good.

Maybe the student section can do one of those old school "We Want You" chants like they did for Brian Toal during that Notre Dame hoops game.

I would tend to agree with your evaluation, plus from what I've seen of Pikiel he wants his inside kids to have great length which Dixon doesn't appear to have, and the kid doesn't look like an outside player.

Yeah, that worked out well, lol, I was there that game and it really was pretty cool even though we didn’t get him.

I’m concerned about taking on an immobile (compared to Deshawn and Eugene) undersized big. Regardless of his skillset to be honest.

Eric Dixon is perfect for Villanova. Jay wright takes this kind of player and goes to final fours. Look at spiellman tonight. Dixon is spiellman part 2. He’s been doing it rinse and repeat for years. Same type of power forward. So all I want to tell Dixon, is don’t be the next spiellman at Villanova. Maybe come to Rutgers and be a first.
