the player and school can mutually release the school from a national letter of intent, prior to scholarship deadline

Why even pretend to be a fan? It has to be mutual, not a great ending but not a “he bailed on Rutgers”. Do you think he wanted out, while trying so hard to qualify?

I see he has plenty of options, JUCO and Prep school stand out.
Could be though kid qualifies academically , its by the skin of his teeth and he feels p[laying football and staying academically eligible at some Universities might be too hard and looking for a safer route .

Maybe it wasn't all Ash's fault, academics might have played a part in his decision.
Let's see where Bunch lands and if it's JUCO or Prep Rutgers might have dodged a bullet.

If Donovan winds up as a Wolverine , grab the pitchforks, torches, tar and feathers and start looking for Chris Ash and company

Does this mean his schollie is available for a transfer? It's late in the game but there still could be someone out there.

He’s our 6th best recruit out of 21, I can’t imagine RU pulled his ship unless there’s pending legal trouble

He wasn't a sure bet to qualify and then did so but very late. Both the recruit and school sought to mutually separate. Since they needed a waiver from the NCAA I doubt it was a "last minute" thing. Also, Bunch's ship went to Ron Johnson.

Schools can't afford to lose a scholarship on potential non-qualifiers in this new hard cap system. That's why Juwan Mitchell was released from his LOI months ago.

This all came up recently when Richie started doing a search in the RU database to confirm who was enrolled.
Most of Bunch's prior offers don't have room as it's close to training camp now. His latest tweet is "Someone come snatch me up" so that should indicate how few have been in contact.

It's too bad the kid would have been a multi-year contributor at RU.

His best bet is either a major prep school - there's one or two down in VA - or do one year at JUCO since he's a qualifier out of HS.

EDIT - Unless someone can take him on like RU did with Anderson last season and count him towards the 2020 class.

You keep blaming Ash yet the last time I checked, he isn't allowed to take exams or go to class for them.

What you don't know or refuse to recognize in this particular situation is not a good look. You should let it go.

And yet he ends up at Maine. What happened to BC, Duke, Ga. Tech, UNC, UVA etc. etc......

In all fairness to Bunch how many of those schools had an available scholarship for this season? Most likely few to none at this point as you don't hear much about movement in the transfer portal.

UNC couldn't find a scholy? They certainly wouldn't have to worry about classes being fully booked. UMass and Kent St. were booked solid? Between all of the schools mentioned previously AND Maryland, NC State, Pitt, Syracuse, Temple West Virginia there wasn't one spot open???????? I think I was being very fair to Bunch.

It was mentioned that prep school or JUCO could be his best bet on the Round Table since most schools were already full at this point.

He won't be at Maine for more than a season and then into the transfer portal he goes.

Prep school would have preserved a year of eligibility. And I'm not at all sure Maine would have signed on for a rental and RU and possibly Temple are his only "closer to home" hardship destinations. We'll see.

Thats fair to say but why is it that Ash is expected to "get it done" whenever a potential recruit becomes available regardless of the timing?
