I’ve followed a little bit of his recruitment only from this board. Are we favored right now? It has seemed quiet on him for a few weeks and now he says he is committing soon. Not sure what that means for us.

I would think Seton Hall and Rutgers are the two finalists because this recruit sounds like he wants to stay local.

Seton hall seems to think they are out of it. Didn’t they also stop recruiting him when he got hurt and then started contacting him again? I can’t imagine he liked that very much.

I hope you are right but Delgado graduating leaves a starting position at Seton Hall.

I hope he either had a game this evening or is watching and thinking he can start next year.

We need several guys at different positions. Vlad is tall and can score. We certainly need some help and he could see plenty of playing time. I think his school played St. Mary of Elizabeth tonight.

We have at least two maybe more. This roster will be turned over.
Sooner, better than later. If I was Pikell I would use that bench as a spatula. Start working with players that can actually help this team going forward.

The players that are going to help this team going forward are not on our bench....they are not here (yet)

We have Baker. Thiam, Doucoure, and Omoruyi which makes 4 guys. We add Carter, Harper, Mathis, Kiss and Johnson to give us 9 guys total, The other 4 at this time are Doorson, Mensah, Bullock and Sanders. I don't know if any of those 4 will return or not. If Sanders doesn't buy in than I think it is better he not return. The other three as I see it are all dispensable. It is all up to our staff. I just hope they can have 13 scholarship players that can all contribute something next year.

I hope we can add Vlad Manuel as a big. He can score and block shots. If Corey leaves I would take a chance on Tavon Jones. He is about 6'2" or perhaps a half inch taller. He can be so much better than Souf and Bullock and he can play point guard as well as several other positions. He is a very good defender and can rebound as well. That would be two very good NJ players who could add to our team. Jones would not have to start. He could back up Baker and Mathis.

The Manuel recruiting should be closely watched .Attracting a talented big man from NJ rarely has happened .Negative recruiting has been used against Rutgers in the past with local recruits.Manuel can break the mold and say I want to stay local which could create a ripple effect in future years.

I really hope Pike's evaluation on Kiss and Johnson ability to play at this level is sound. Can't afford non-productive active roster players next year. The Mensah evaluation is still a head scratcher to me. Mensah seems like a good kid and teammate but he just does not show the ability to contribute much here. I think he and Bullock would be better off elsewhere if PT is important to them. If they want a degree from a good school then maybe they intend to stick it out. Technically its their choice.

I think Mensah and Bullock should both go to a D-2 team where they would be eligible immediately. Doorson could transfer as a grad transfrer. We need more production from all 3 spots.

I don't think Mensah can transfer without sitting a year, even at the D2 or D3 level.

Bullock can def play D2. I think Mensah is a D3 player.

I tell my 13 year old 7th grade daughter that the most valuable basketball skill she can develop is to be able to dribble while running at full speed. Same concept applies to RU basketball.

Especially if you can do it with your head up!
