Dakari should of come back and i would of thought that even if he went in the top 30 like i thought he would . He could of been a top 15 pick next year and now he will have to fight it out in the d league even if he is drafted.

I normally hate the grammar cop posters, but I must say this is a remarkable passage for the variety of ways in which it makes the same error in just two sentences. It's should have, would have, could have, not "of."

And your point is also wrong. Dakari's error, in terms of draft stock, was staying too long, not leaving too early. The longer he stayed in college the worse his stock got--dude was a projected lottery pick out of high school, a projected late first rounder after his freshman year, and a projected second rounder after his sophomore year--the direction his stock was going suggests that a third year may've resulted in him not getting drafted at all.

LMAO if you have never heard of this you just don't know jack about the NBA .

Right, I don't really, I have had a more vested interest in the NBA as of late because of all the UK players and I have gotten more into it the past couple of years. I really enjoyed the playoffs last year and this year.
I am starting to "get into" the NBA more now... So you are correct, I don't know jack about the NBA... But I'm trying to learn

I do respect you and your recruiting picks.... Wait.... :joy:

That's how much the NBA teams regard 2nd round picks. They will draft a foreign player with potential and retain the rights to him just in case he blossoms and is later able to play for their team.

how will the twins not getting drafted hurt UK/Cal? would like to know more. please explain

IT WILL NOT!!

I NEVER STATED IN ANY POST THAT IT WOULD!!

I only stated that it would hurt ANDREW AND AARON!!

Being a 2nd round pick is no better than not getting drafted at all and being able to sign with a team as a free agent.

One pick left: Matt Jones indicating that it won't be Aaron. Feel so bad for the kid. Hope he works hard and makes a team as a free agent.

'LOL because Dakari is Nazr part 2 and will play many many years in the NBA . Aaron is a shooting guard who didn't shoot well at all last year . Aaron will make a team and play a few years though .

I actually don't see him making a roster.

This is why a lot of us said it was a mistake for him to leave... could've came back, improved his skillset (shooting, in particular) and went early 2nd round next year if he really worked at it.

He'll make big money in Europe, but there's no denying that it was a mistake to leave at this point. And perhaps a costly one.

It is one of the biggest nights in UK history and to say other wise is silly. This is why we win - because we have the most talent . Is it 2nd biggest ? Hell no there were 8 bigger and IMO the draft with Wall and co was the 9th biggest because it announced UK and Cal was a machine .

Isn't it obvious? Aaron Harrison is a shooting guard who's a 32% three pt shooter. If he had John Wall's athleticism then he's possibly a 1st round pick but he's not that athletic. Sometimes you have to take off the blue tinted glasses and see things for what they really are

I wish Aaron well but he'll have to drastically improve his shooting to make a team

Hence, the reason to come back.

I feel bad for Aaron. I think he will stick on a roster this summer though. The silver lining is that all 30 teams are now in play.

I don't get all these teams taking a chance on all these foreign players. Some of them avg. like 6 pts a game and barely played and are a couple yrs away from even playing according to the analyst.

Players are who they are. An extra year wasn't going to do any more for his draft stock than this past year did. Andrew and Aaron are both much, much, MUCH better players than they were last season and yet both of their stocks plummeted.

I don't know how often it has to be explained, or why we go through this every year, but the longer teams look at you, unless you're a raw athletic freak who actually develops (like Willie did, or a guy like Blake Griffin), the more they pick at your flaws and the lower your upside is perceived to be.

If these guys want to play professional basketball (and they all do), their options are to go now and start trying to make a roster or play overseas, or come back and delay the same process by a year or more. Which 6'5 SG with average athleticism came back and improved his stock?

Anybody know when the d-league draft starts? Alexander will be 1 for sure. I hate it for Aaron but he will make his way. Kelly urbre was overrated as well. He will be a journeyman for 46 teams. 1 yr in the nba. 1 yr in the d-league then 44 teams across Europe

They do this so they don't have to pay the pick or use a roster spot on him. They leave them stashed overseas, retain their rights in case they develop into a great player, and save the cap and roster space instead of using it on a guy who probably won't play or contribute soon anyway.

I don't get it. In the NFL, teams spend a lot of money trying to find gems in the sixth and seventh rounds. It's like half the NBA teams blow off the second round and say "screw it, let's be the first team to take a guy from India." Aaron Harrison hit more clutch shots in the tournament than anyone I can remember, and I've been watching this game for 40 years. Why a San Antonio or Philadelphia wouldn't take a chance on him based on that instead of all these Europeans is beyond me.

I hope he tries out for Memphis and they both stick with the Grizzlies.
