Could next year's squad be a dominant as the 2012 team that had Davis, MKG, Lamb etc? Or am I just wishing, hoping, dreaming?

Yes. Especially if/when we get Bolden and with Briscoe and Lee coming back. But if Ulis comes back to go along with Lee and Bolden then yes. We will not only dominate college basketball next year but we'll demolish most opponents.

I don't think we have anyone at the 3 spot like we did in 2012.
Gabriel has better pro potential then MKG due to his sweet stroke and size but MKG was a legend in terms of motor . I think the teams will be similar if Briscoe comes back and we get Bolden. If not I think we are a 5-6 loss team but still a 1 seed and a final 4 team. But with Briscoe and Bolden - Holy Hell as that would be 6-7 possible Lotto picks and another 3 possible NBA draft picks as well.

I was adding Darius in there as well. 2012 team was so stacked.

Get Briscoe back and we'll have several good returnees. It'll come down to how good the freshman actually end up being. With all the size and athleticism you have to like the potential.

According to a few on here,, we'll not be no better next year than we were this year.. 8-10 losses at least..

These guys have an attitude that appears to be more (killer) instinct like than 2014. But what the hell do I know. Hard to tell by watching AAU highlight vids.

I didn't have this feeling w 2014 but 16, They give me the same feeling as Brandon Knight's class.

Just got done watching ukcat8fan's video on YouTube of the 2012 season. I don't think next year will be as good as that year but it could be very close depending on who comes back.

No!
12 had the returning talented experience of Miller, Jones and Lamb.

17 will have more depth. I think they look more like the 10 or 14 teams.

MKG would have eaten WG.

MKG was a top player since 7th grade for a reason, WG just started to turn heads.

Long term pro potential? If WG can score he very well may be, but as freshmen, not even close in my opinion.

So next year's team is either going to be awesome or have 10 losses and suck.

Than why didn't you speak up in April of 2013 to say that the incoming kids didn't have a killer instinct? I don't recall a single poster that knocked those recruits. Especially in April of 2013.
Randle was extremely competitive, if any of these incoming recruits are half as competitive as Randle we will be in great shape.

I was hoping expectations would have tempered some with the new class. Yes, we have tremendous talent and could get some experienced players back but a comparison like this is a joke.
In 2012, all the stars aligned for a run at the national championship. Lets not forget, while extremely talented, these kids are not used to basketball at this level. Furthermore, they probably have never shared the floor with this many other good players. Its easy to standout in high school but now they are competing against other athletes who are closer in overall talent or more physically mature. It will be an adjustment both as a teammate and against their competition.
Having said this, i like our chances to succeed but it won't be domination mode like 2012.

Was hoping someone said this.

MKG was a star at the 3. We hope Gabriel can be something similar but we knew what MKG was. He never disappointed.

Or. . . they could have 10 losses and by tournament time be a team that developed enough to be a top contender. I mean, if next year's team makes the Final Four who cares how many losses they have in the season?

Well, to answer your question I wasn't a Hall of fame arm chair poster in 2013 like I am now. Lol

If Ulis somehow, someway comes back- I could see us being a dominant team. Maybe not quite to the level of 2012, but certainly the shoe-in favorite to win it all.

But it's a moot point, because the chances of him coming back are remote, IMO.

If Ulis came back we would be dominate and could rival 2012. Teague struggled mightily early in the season and Lamb filled in a ton. Teague sat in a lot of games because he was ineffective. But it wasn't until Teague clicked that we pretty much became unbeatable. His play in the tournament was excellent. That is what Ulis would bring, insane PG play

davis is one of the greatest players in the history of the program. kidd-gilchrist was also special. not a normal freshman, even for a cal recruit. jones is a bit underappreciated. great frontcourt

next year's team will be deeper (2012 really had a 6 man rotation, with vargas & wheelchair playing sparingly), and potentially better in the backcourt--as efficient as lamb was he's not nearly the athlete monk is, and it's possible that both briscoe and fox are better than teague. don't see 38-2 happening though

plenty of size without bolden. reasonable physical development over the offseason could do a whole lot for humphries
