The vision I had about our team and offense coming in to the season was one where we had balance and we shared the basketball. We by no means had a good offensive day, but I really liked the balance with no one taking more than 11 shots and getting scoring from all 5 positions on the floor.

One thing that does unnoticed by some (including me)....Caleb has defensive rebounded like a power forward. 4 DREBs tonight in 18 minutes

caleb is a really good defensive player. He has tremendous upside. When he wants to he can get to the rim, he hits foul shots, has a nice looking 3 point shot. Skys really the limit for him

He also showed us a new wrinkle by getting to the rim yesterday...not your garden variety stuff...but some high degree of difficulty stuff. Takes how dangerous he and the team can be to an entirely new level.

Cool stats. Also big fan of CMac. Needs work on his handle but has great court vision, is an excellent passer and good defender/rebounder at his position, and he can make shots and FTs.

I didn’t realize how solid he played.
Combine him and Myles and you get 10 points, 12 boards and 2 blocks. Solid big man stats

Coaching staff plays the right people. If he is buried on the bench either he isn't as good as expected or we have guys really ready coming in

If he can develop his shot, I could see him playing more of a small forward next year. He is a legit 6'6".

Caleb can get to the rim and into the lane with ease. He just needs to keep playing with confidence and be aggressive. Some games he is more active and others he is more passive. His length is such an asset as he can stride by shorter guards. Love his defense and rebounding too. I think Geo Mathis Caleb EO plus Doorson/Myles is our best defensive lineup

Agreed. Johnson is also a very productive rebounder, averaging 5.2/rpg in only 16 minutes. I think he is a double/double waiting to happen in future years.

Pike's patience with Harper is now paying dividends. He was given a decent amount of playing time early based on his potential, but his stats were actually pretty awful in his first 10 games or so, especially shooting. He seems now to be starting to find his comfort zone.

While your statement is generally true, it was not true earlier in the year nor entirely last night. It is no secret that Coach struggled with rotations early expecting Issa and Kiss to give him 15-25 a game and when that did not materialize, Mathis , and Harper got starts and Caleb got more extended time. It took Coach a while to get comfortable with this team.
Last night I definitely was calling for Shaq Carter and Caleb much more in the second half and down the stretch as both were having good games , and Carter could have had 15 points instead of the 8 points and 7 rebounds he got in limited minutes. I thought Carter and Eugene played well together on both ends but definitely on the offensive end and Carter has better hands than Doorson and Myles to catch the high - lows they were throwing.

Shaq Carter is playing very well. On offense he is so fluid, decisive and smooth around the hoop.

He got it right early on the season. Those players who didn’t get minutes learned what was needed to get minutes. Some of the guys currently not getting the minutes you’d expect probably aren’t because they aren’t executing as well as others on D

If we are watching the games, he is playing both the wing (SF) & the lead guard spot on some other possessions.

He is not a true PG, more of a combo that can play 3 spots. He and Kiss are essentially spread and mixed with Harper at the 3, which has allowed more playmaking, scoring and help for Geo generating passes (assists) while being able to get past his man and into the lane to make a play.

He is playing in Thiam's spot so I think there's minutes for him, while Baker plays 30-34 minutes as well. It makes no sense to play Thiam, when McConnell can provide the playmaking, scoring and rebounding.

There's a lot of flexibility with a player like McConnell, who also played some SG when Mathis was a little off his game. He provides depth at 3 positions, which is why I've stressed that he's a more valuable player than Strickland and offers more overall coverage than a McClung or grad transfer guard that people wanted.

When you add a Jacob Young and Mulcahy, it just becomes more competitive for minutes.

I wish Shaq Doorsen had Carter’s abilities around the basket. Doorsen repeatedly gets good position but can’t do anything with it. It’s maddening. Gotta think he’d be a bigger offensive threat by now had he never been injured.
