That was Washington #75 jumping on a RUTGERS defender on the ground. He also gave the student section the double bird while running onto the field pre game.

If ejection was not part of the penalty i think it would be called more, probably both of these would have. I liked that on the first one they still kept unnecessary roughness for the 15 yards, which was deserved.

Diving forearm shive to the head of a guy lying on the ground away from the player tackled. Certainly tried to hurt our guy. He's a POS and so was the person in the command center that ruled against targeting.
I'm old school and would have loved to see one of our big guys come in late after a play when a 15 yard penalty wouldn't cost use (like first a goal from the 2 or after a 1st down deep in there territory) and lay him out.

I couldn't believe both.

The OL dropped his head as he was trying to drive the defenseless defender 10 feet into the earth. The intent was clear.

I didn't think much of the 2nd one but the replay showed that he dropped his head, his eyes were looking at the ground and he speared Miller.

Exactly. That DB drops his head like that against a big back like Brown coming full speed and he’s gonna break his friggen neck. Kick him out and he probably never does it again. You don’t think EL or GS wouldn’t have traded an ejection and a lesson for a wheelchair? The focus should be on player safety, including the tackler’s.

That's what I tried to tell all my seatmates. Spearing has always been illegal since I was in high school back in the 80's. It was a defenseless player who went up for a pass and he lowered his head to where the crown of the helmet was used to spear the player. It doesn't matter if it's from in front or behind, it just looks worse from behind.

#75 s/h/b ejected. He pushed Rogers down, then drove him into the ground. Ridiculous missed call by the officials. #75 got the 15 yards for the play but the driving a defenseless player into the ground was without deserved consequences. Low life play

As an announcer said, the head down tackle by defender was dangerous for HIM. IMO it would be better as a foul for that reason nevermind the offensive player. Head's down tackles like that should be a penalty as much as anything else

Both where, first absolutely was, second sort of questionable but if the rule says dropping the head and launching, then it was. Complete ********

Old school that play was fine and so would our team jumping in and brawling lol. But these days we would get 15 yards for retaliation and our kids are coached not to do that. I think that same guy had a questionable play late in the game too.

#74, the RT took the 3rdQ PF for piling on. (#75, the Portland State transfer center was the low life on the 1Q assault on Eric Rogers.

yeah...all true but why I said hit him late when the 15 yards wouldn't matter. But of course GS isn't coaching our kids to do that stuff...nor should he be....but as a teammate I might have taken the chance... "family" right? If the refs had done their job it wouldn't even be a thought.

Saw enough Quality B1G reffing in other the games to make my head hurt all week.

I don't understand why Unnecessary roughness isn't treated like unsportsmanlike conduct. 2nd one and you're gone. They toss you for hurting a guys feelings but not for potentially causing physical harm.

Agree with those who said 1st one was definitely targeting or worse. First he threw the RU player down, then took a deep breath and then ran at the downed player helmet first in order to drill him into the ground. He had plenty of time to stop before the second attack. Overall I thought Washington plays dirty and I don't particularly like their coach. So glad we won and gave them an extra long ride home.
Ru stopped them 12 out of 14 third down attemps.

I think part of the "wiggle room" of these calls is that "pancaking" a player already on the ground is ok. Pancaking isn't polite or thoughtful lol.

On that first targeting there was illegal hands to the face on the initial block, targeting, and unnecessary roughness/late hit. That guy got a lot of value for his 15 yards.
