Everybody in the stadium could see on the two point conversion that our guys had never seen that formation and were clearly confused.

They were not sure who should cover that tight end in the backfield and so that tight end runs right through them and he’s wide open. They all pointed at that TE who won the game.

We had a timeout, there was 10 seconds before they going to snap the ball. Plenty of time to call our TO.

Why on earth did we not call timeout and say “OK boys here’s the formation here’s what they’re probably gonna do” ?!?!

Our guys were clearly confused and then nobody covered the TE. it to me looked like Swain should’ve covered him - he covered nobody.

That was horrible.

Shane
DC
Lb coach
Secondary coach

i blame them. In order
Sir, I'm not being ugly here - the bottom line is simply this: Shane Beamer cannot coach.

The going for it on 4th down when we had the lead 27-24 instead of kicking a field goal is not only boneheaded - it's math... very simple math.

You kick the FG to go up 30-24. Then, you must assume that KY will score a TD to make it 30-31 (them) ....or, even if they go for 2 for some strange reason, it would be 30-32...... EIther way, you get the ball back and all you need is a FG to win it.

It's not only math, it's very simple math. The lack of understanding from Beamer and Sellers of game situations is just absurdly horrible. It's inexcusable. He must be fired. There is no other way. - We can keep Briles and the OL coach. - Several of the players need to be shown the door too. Especially those players in the secondary that WILL NOT TACKLE!!

Beamer addressed the decision on the postgame interview with Todd - maybe you've heard it by now?

TE is LB or safety responsibility. Not swain.
I don't want to hear about Swain anymore. I literally watched that dude late in the 4th qtr STAND THERE and appear to "adjust" his wristband and arm bands..... meanwhile, several of his teammates were STILL TRYING TO TACKLE a KY guy to the ground that was about 3 yards away from Swain....

Swain just stood there, putting on his lipstick. Adjusting his skirt, etc. He's electric on punt returns and sweeps.... I'll give him that, but he has no business being on defense.

I didn't, what did he say?

Disclaimer - I'm paraphrasing and trying to recall with a memory that can't remember what I came into the room to get. 😁

They thought they had UK in a bad place because the clock was running down and they looked somewhat disorganized. They had the team prepared for the play and thought they'd be good, so he decided not to call the TO. Said in hindsight he should have called it.

It will probably be in one of the postgame interview trasncripts on here, so you can get a more accurate version. (y)

No. I cant wait to hear what he said. Other than we screwed up. We took our last time out into the locker room while our guys on the field were confused.

Yes what did he say? Also I was going to lose it on that boneheaded play by swain on the punt. Are these kids certified retarted?
I still don’t understand what swain was trying to do on that play on the punt. In any other stadium, other than our own, that’s a fumble and a free ball.

I'd be willing to bet he stops with the "we got to coach better" line. I think we're to the point where it's not gonna help him anymore.

Thanks.

I know it's a hotly debated decision, but I dont mind that thinking. Sometimes you have to strike if the opponent is on their heels.

I don’t think any of our coaches noticed the KY formation. Because if they did why would they not have called a TO? Our players definitely noticed the formation, maybe they are not allowed to call a TO?

Anyway, the KY team is better coached and managed. Their game was better managed. They have real coaches.

I mean it was the last play of the game no matter what, what could we be saving the TO for?

Wouldn't surprise me if Beamer didn't even realize we had one to burn.

And you asked an interesting question... NO, I do not believe the players are allowed to call a TO. Reason being is Sellers in the first half doing that MORONIC slide while we had no TO's and the clock was burning..... if the players were allowed to call a TO, I believe Sellers would have jumped up and TRIED to call one....even though we didn't have any left. - I really believe that.

I would have planned to look at their formation and call the timeout no matter what. Why would you not have done it? It was a free look! Beamer doesn’t know how to coach, he claps like a monkey.

Every team has their go to - never fails money play two point conversion play. This was clearly it for Kentucky.

So we had an opportunity to see the formation of that play for Kentucky. They one hundred percent would run the same play again and we would’ve been better prepared for that.

There is absolutely no excuse and there’s no legitimate reason for not calling a time out there, in an absolute worst case scenario you give the defense a chance to rest - to catch their breath - to refocus.
