Name 1 thing good and 1 thing negative you were surprised by.

Good- We were able to get to the QB much more than I thought.
Bad- The offense looked more basic than I was expecting. I was expecting more deep balls, more qb runs, more trick plays.

Again this is a hard loss, but this was our first game. These mistakes last week don't hurt us, we get them ironed out this week and we probably beat CU by 2 or 3 tds. Lets hope CU is a top 10 team by year end. lol

1 Good thing - overall I think the team energy and excitement was the best I’ve seen in years. Everyone seemed pumped and you just know it means that much more to Frost to right the ship.. tough loss for him

1 Bad thing- while I think we had some great designed plays I don’t recall one trick play. With all the QB keepers I think if we had we peppered in 1 or 2 trick calls perhaps that may have been a momentum swinger. CO had at least 2 I believe.

That said I’m confident we’re heading in the right direction. Like Frosty said.. take your shots now!

Not a surprise but Stille was lined up over the center on passing downs.

True Fr QB coming off an injury and hasn't played in a real game since his Jr year in HS

Good: Defense plays with bad intentions, and with time I believe that will be a positive.

Bad: Greg Bell is not as fast as I thought he was.
Yes I agree.. we still have yet to see that homerun threat in the backfield.. maybe it’s Washington??

1 good thing is martinez looked better then any NU qb I have seen, considering his running/passing since turner gill (I can't say frazier or crouch cause they couldn't pass very well)

1 bad thing is our coach calling time out while cu's field goal kicker is hitting the uprights

CU will NOT be a top 10 team. You can go to the bank on it. They have a few good players, but they are up and down. So here’s the difference today: this coach and staff are not a mirage like the last 3. They WILL bring us back. They showed glimpses today of what to expect. The turnovers and sloppy play will get better. CU is a decent PAC-12 team. Nothing more.

Good - Running game. We did pretty much what we wanted when we weren't fumbling.

Bad - Clock management. Most of the other issues can be attributed to being first game mistakes. This is something I hope the staff looks at and raises a red flag for.

The offense plsycalling was about what you'd expect with a true freshman QB making his first ever start, and every player making their first start in this system.

I think it's reasonable to conclude that it's fairly vanilla currently and will gradually get more complex as the season progresses.

I was struck by the lack of deep balls stretching the field tonight. Watching UCF last year it was a staple with Milton putting them on the money.

Frost was very vanilla his first season at UCF. There wasn’t much fancy going on that season so I expected much of the same for us.

This. Ran well at times but seemed to miss opportunities to hit with some play action deep.

Good - intensity and pressure on defense. Light years better than last year.

Bad - I was surprised by the lack of burst from Lindsey.
Outside of maybe Martinez I think our whole offense look slower than expecting. Very surprised by that. Or CU is very fast. Even watching Martinez in the pocket. Very slow movements.

I don't know if I would call it 'vanilla', but the way he explained it was that he intentionally didn't have the full playbook installed in year one. Made perfect sense. It's a more complex scheme, and you don't want the kids to get overwhelmed.

I agree about Martinez. The late interception was bad but wow he can play. If he can stay healthy he'll be on future Heisman lists.

Yep, on a few of those long runs, Phillips, Green, Rozier score where the backs today couldn't.

Good.....the line play on both sides of the ball was improved

Bad....the play calling on third and fourth down still looked like last year coaches were calling them. (not impressed AT ALL with Scott Frosts play calling on third and particularly fourth down)

Good 1. D line improvement dramatically, o line improved big too, excellent S,&C.

Bad 2. Secondary and Coverage still leaving guys wide open.

Surprised by the clock management and bad penalties... This was the first game and expected some freshman mistakes by our QB, but overall I'm happy with what I saw today. I think we are going to have a lot of fun watching this team develop through the season.

I remember a quote from a poster on UCF board awhile back. " All you husker fans are going to be screaming at the tv on his 3 and 4th down calls."

Bell- Very slow. Caught from behind several times. Turnovers still horrible year after year after year. Secondary is not very good. Surprised clock management was so poor. The good news is we still had a chance to win at the end of the game after not playing very well.

Good-Owned the LOS on both sides of the ball. Defense looks much quicker.

Bad-Penalties constantly impacted field position. DBs gave up too much cushion, but may have been instructed to do so. CU's receivers weren't challenged enough at LOS.

Overall we got in our own way far too often and had way too many boneheaded plays. We should have won this game by at least a couple TDs, but gave it away.

I was very impressed with how far our line play has come. In the first half the DLine was just mauling CU’s Oline. I think they had 3 or 4 3 and outs in a row, and all of them ended on 3rd down with a sack. 7 sacks on the day, against a very good QB who I expect will play on Sunday’s. 7 sacks in a game is half the TOTAL over the entire season last year. Also early on, the Oline was doing a great job opening up running lanes and giving adequate time in pass pro. I’d say yesterday, the lines, AM and the running game were most impressive and give me reason to think that things most certainly are going to be better this season. As long at AM can get back on the field ASAP, we’ll be okay. Without him this year, it’s could be a rocky season.

Did you watch any of SF coaching last season? You aren’t getting deep balls and the short yardage plays/RB choices will leave you scratching your head

True Fr QB coming off an injury and hasn't played in a real game since his Jr year in HS
This! The guy hasn’t played in two years and has injury problems. Also no reliable back up
