We earned that win today. Royally fuсked by our own SEC refs. Absolute disgrace.

Not quite sure we "earned that win today", but we sure as HELL did not deserve this loss today. I'm not sure I would honor the return game - Sept. 3, 2022 game with Memphis next season if I were AD.

We didn’t earn the win so much as didn’t deserve that screwjob by the refs in the loss.

Memphis had a scoop n score, a 98 yard TD drive, aaand the "punt return". Total coaching fail by the entire staff.

Without that horrendous punt return call (refs blew it on multiple points), we win the game and there's no doubt we earned it. We outgained 468-246 and had even turnovers.

The offense and defense were both good enough to win, and special teams were too before the whistle.

I don't think we can make this argument when Leach left 3 on the field, failed to challenge the punt return, and then set up the last 3 for Memphis by rekicking an onside kick with plenty of time left.

Not sure you can blame the coaches for the punt return or the 17ing we took on the onside kick. But whatever makes you feel good. We should have been far enough ahead that it didn't come down to this tho. But we did get raped by the officials.

This video, sequence of events ,

will be shown to every team ( special teams) in the land, as a teaching moment of

what not to do, for years to come.

I take it you didn't watch the game. We are crying about refs and we just put ourselves in position to have to cry about refs against Tiger High. We need to hand out at least two pink slips tonight. I'm actually coming around to three.

You do realize the play was blown dead? What more do you want us to do? Knock his *** off after the play and get flagged?

Did you hear the whistle? That is what matters. If it didn't blow then that's a live ball. You have to coach guys to pick up the damn ball to make sure that doesn't happen. I've actually seen it happen before, more than once. My old high school pulled that stunt a number of times under one coach. He would actually tell the refs he was going to do it before the game. It's a legal play.

Yes, I am crying about the refs who are responsible for us being 2-1 instead of 3-0, a game that will have repercussions all season.

Just because we should have won anyway (we outgained 468-246, so obviously) doesn't change the fact that we did enough to win but lost because of a refereeing f-up.

+1

I guess we should've done what my Pop Warner coach always said, "At the end of EVERY play, you pick up the ball and hand it to the Referee." Of course with these Refs today, the Ref probably would've grabbed the football and ran into the endzone himself and awarded Memphis 6 points.

You coach players to PICK UP THE DAMN BALL so the refs can't screw it up. That's elementary. That's on our coaches as much as the refs. We need to clean house, Tonight.

Doesn't change the fact that the refs screwed up and cost us the game. Obviously there are plenty of things that could have gone differently and made the referee screwjob not matter, but we shouldn't have to beat the refs too. Just beating Memphis (which our players did) should be enough.

Maybe pick up a rule book? The rule is the ball is downed. Nowhere does it say you must hand it to the ref.

Kind of what I thought. It is supposed to be down and play over when touched by the punting team. And we clearly touched it. I didn't see it live, but when I saw the replay, I was like what in the 17n hell, are you kidding me?
