So, I guess the next stadium renovation will be a dome. Because apparently you can't have games in September without thunderstorms.

In my roughly 40 years of watching Nebraska football I have never seen a lightning delay on opening day. Not ever.

Where's Bill Murray? I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff is gonna come down for awhile!!

A few years ago the Vandals had something like a 2 1/2 hour rain delay when we were playing in Florida. It was awful - the game stopped/started and was finally called off.

How would they handle not playing the game when it already officially started?

There was a lightning delay during the 1991 opener vs. Utah State.

Later that season, the temperature vs. Colorado was near Zero. (Remember the snowballs as NU tried a field goal to win the game?)

The Oklahoma game was played in 33 degree weather with intermittent heavy rain.

We need all the wins we can get. Hope they find a way to play this one even if they have to start it at midnight

I don’t care if they don’t allow a single fan in for the game .... we need every win we can get and the Colorado game is going to be even tougher without a game under our belt

I'm not talking about fans. It takes hundreds workers to put on a college football game, many of which probably have plans for the Holiday weekend tomorrow. Also, Akron probably doesn't have hotel rooms booked for tonight, and they probably have a charter plane set to depart tonight.

And the forecast for tomorrow is just as bad.

If the weather is as bad as advertised, that plane ain't leaving tonight...

Here's what happened to us in 2014.

University of Florida Athletics Director Jeremy Foley and University of Idaho Athletics Director Rob Spear have agreed that Saturday night’s game has been declared a no contest and that not rescheduling the game is the only viable option for both programs.

The two schools, however, have agreed to schedule a game in Gainesville for the 2017 season on a date to be determined later. (yeah, it never was rescheduled.)

Florida will fulfill the terms of the contract between the two schools and pay Idaho its $975,000 guarantee by February 1, 2015, as outlined in the agreement.

Bottom line - Idaho got the $$ so they were happy.

Anything on when the last lightning was so we know the earliest they could restart?
