more of a shock as far as how we beat them with Ray Allen et al. We were there for both games and there were probably 800-1000 State fans at the Cincy game and 20,000 Cincy fans with it being about only about 60 miles down the road. They could not believe what they were watching. And in all honesty neither could I. That was about as satisfying of a victory as I've had as a Bulldog.

my favortite game was actually Princeton beating UCLA, because I knew then that our players would get the rest they needed to make a run.

I think that D. Jones was struggling with a stress fracture at the time.

As far as games we were in, the Cinci and the Uconn games were both awesome. We outplayed both from start to finish. A mid season loss to Ole Miss had taken us off the radar and pushed our ranking down, but fans that were following the Dawgs that year knew that we could compete with anybody. We really came close to winning the damn thing. We were just a little flat against Syr, and it cost us, even tho that game was competive throughout. I know Kentucky was glad when we lost, though not as confident of beating Syracuse as I was that we would easily handle Princeton.

I thought the fact we went from playing as underdogs to the media talking about a possible rematch with UK caused a change in frame of mind. We went from playing with nothing to lose (vs Cincy and UConn) to being the favorite. We just did not seem to play with that same swagger as in Lexington. Maybe it was the bigger stage. I don't know but we looked different in NYC.

I think we beat Kentucky again, if we get by the 'orange'. We were in the cats' heads after that beating in new orleans.

and wouldn't doubt it if true, that Bullard threw the Syracuse game for cash or to settle a gambling debt. We were a rather significant favorite in that game.

If I see the video, I'll think about it. My memory is that the whole team had a deer-in-headlights feel. We let Syracuse slow dance us, which helped them. I also remember Dampier missing some easy ones under the basket, though it wasn't unusual for him to bounce a chppie off the rim.

It seems like I read that Williams was all business and didn't let the players enjoy themselves as much as other teams did. With what he may have known about MB, he may have had reasons. I do wonder if that contributed to our team disintigrating as soon as that game was over. We're doing pretty good now, but it does seem to me that we didn't build on that Final Four as much as we could have.

but with another player (Hyche maybe? I forget) playing the role of saboteur. I also remember senior testing the week after, and the bus driver telling us about the nice cars that Dampier and Jones were driving by then.

You got it figured out Captain Obvious. So, why did Bullard turn the ball over? Forcing passes, playing out of control, etc. because he was trying to do to much. I think some that stemed from the pressure of the game itself......and Syracuse played some pretty good defense that game as well. Wallace was a thorn in our side on both ends of the court.

You probably could have heard **** like that in Las Vegas on the day of the game. Doesn't mean you carry it with you for a decade + and post it on a message board.

....and his family are all alumnus and I had been talking **** for days about Cinci kicking MSU's ***.

It was all the usual slams, the SEC doesn't have a tough basketball league, the Big East RULES, etc, etc, so when we came out and dominated them, I didn't have to get in anyone's face, I just sat back and grinned the whole time.

Tha night "Chicken Cooker" Donte Jones was shooting lights out and our team defense was able to hold Danny Fortsen to well below his averages so we kicked that tail.

That was about as satisfying a game as I've ever experienced, especially since the "in-law-family" have never criticized MSU basketball since.

I've heard Bullard was on the take for the last 12+ years and heard it from many different sources.

always thought there was something to it. But that matchup zone the canes threw at us also gave us fits. We hit the 1st couple of 3's then was cold as ice.
