Interestingly enough, it was shared on a small private forum, and once he learned more about it, he added additional context to that location. So he actually did exactly what you said. He didn't come here and share that info...someone else did when they shouldn't have
the reason i posted it there was to NOT make it a big thing. i mean, "Iowa HC beefing with Top Club Coach" definitely warrants discussion. but it was not my intention to make this a big deal. thus that venue.

Who shouldn’t have shared that info? If they wouldn’t have said anything everyone would’ve just gone with what Willie said and everyone would’ve ate it up. I’m hoping Iowa affiliated people eventually start defending themselves more from fake news stuff like this, because even when people like Willie figure out they made a mistake, they don’t have the integrity to admit it because it’s Iowa.

Drake has had one foot out the door/is the grass greener eyeballs for a bit now. And it was always a money issue, not a Tom issue. And this is coming from a guy who isn't the biggest Tom fan.
disappointed in this take VHS. i think you're a good dude and i know you know stuff. but this is just bizarre.

it was all about the money and he had one foot out the door, but he burned his shirt when needed (and not ready) and stayed all 4 years. so how was it about the money?

you either know, or you don't. and if you wanna open up that can of worms let's dance.

A famous person once said it isn't a lie, if you believe it to be true. But then ignorance comes into play.

Only took you an hour to defend Drake when he leaves Iowa, but you don’t say **** when he’s gotten crap from people on the internet the last 6 years because he’s at Iowa. Keep proving my original point right, William.

get a grip. Drake was the most universally respected Hawk wrestlers in a decade (spencer included).

no one 'on the internet' ragged on drake accept this board for 2 months when drake was wrestling his worst. do that math.

I just told you exactly what happened though.
Gobblin, why on earth would anyone involved with preparing kids for wrestling at the NCAA level as well as mentoring those same kids toward top programs treat a top program like IOWA like the way you described. Alienating a school like IOWA seems ridiculous. Iowa is a top program steeped in tradition with great facilities and money, far above most schools, it does not seem plausible the way you tell the story.

nothing in my post contradicts anything said here. by gobblin or anyone else. so why pile on me?
Because reading and more importantly comprehension seems to be a problem for you. I showed you exactly to whom and what I was referring to. But you deflect. Good thing you found your niche in a rather inconsequential aspect of this world because my guess you’d be struggling big time otherwise. But good for you, I guess.

I can’t speak on a grown mans motivations to act like such a jackass…. To our program or just in general. It’s not a secret that he’s got an inflated ego and inflated mouth.

Whether or not the truth seems “plausible” to you is irrelevant.

Multiple people experienced what Gobblin describes. And to answer "why is he a dick"? No idea

i literally quoted you. YOU. i quoted you.

you're a slappy. jfc
But my reply (Costanza reference) wasn’t to you - good lord you’re a simpleton. It’s not that hard to go back and look for yourself. I told you how many to go back. I used to think you were picked on unnecessarily rough. Now I understand why. Bull headed and lack of intelligence aren’t a good combination.

Everything you've said is true. Everything I've said is true. If you want to call it a dance, sure.

Drake has been everything you've said. Consummate leader, loyal and a good kid. Not dragging him through the mud, or speaking ill. But when DT was hired - Drake had his eye on leaving. He asked how to get in the portal and there were discussions that led to him getting to more money. I don't think he wanted to leave, but definitely wanted to feel valued. And Tom made that happen. It never got toxic, or whatever kids like to say now, and Drake was always content to be a Hawk.

I think Drake is a great hawk and have only heard good things about him as a person. He got hired as an assistant at ISU, and immediately went to work. And his job now is to make ISU as good a program as he can.

Drake did not want to leave. Transfers in were getting 500k and Drake was getting way way less and was National Runner up. Never even crossed Tom’s mind to value “his guys” equal or better than incoming transfers. The only reason Drake looked to DT was because of this. Tom was forced to address it when he looked around. Otherwise he wouldn’t have addressed it.

Tom’s behavior for years suggests he’s really dumb at a lot of things and not only dumb, but can’t adapt or adjust. Awesome wrestler though.

I agree there is probably something to this being how things played out. I don’t think Tom is dumb though. Stubborn as a mule maybe. But not dumb.

His roommate was Ryder, so I can see him trying hard to get Ryder. Well, he only got 2, and respectfully, I don’t think those guys were ever going to start.

It’s Sad and Odd man. Drake is a good guy and was a great ambassador for Iowa, wish there was no bad blood.
I find it interesting that Iowa (TnT) has been accused of raiding other teams and violating portal rules and contacting people from other teams for a few years now and then they seem to be upset that someone else tried to take some of their guys with them to another team.

Of course, I am getting all my info from a message board, so I could be totally off in regards to the reality of the situation.

The dollars you mention are false by a long shot. Drake was well looked after in all ways.

Your reality is much closer to the reality of the situation. Except for the false narrative of Ayala trying to bring anyone with him other than his brother.

Working to get others to leave with you while you are still at said location - bad. Working to get others to leave to join you after you have left said location - good. There is a distinct difference between the two.
