Poster over on Hawkeye Report yesterday definitively saying Jax was enrolling at semester and using his 5 dates before evaluating things prior to the Big 12’s. Will find out one way or the other in a couple weeks but it sure feels like things are building to that eventuality.
He could attend the scuffle unattached. He could wrestle the last 7 duals and use his 5 dates. He would see Frost , Campbell and Ayala.

Looks like PSU is weak at 141 and Hwt, If they both dont AA. Luke doesnt place top 2, Blaze doesnt place top 2, SVN loses and doesnt place in top 2. Same with Barr. Gives way for other teams to sneak in.

I think the expectation is still that Nagao will be back

Jax would solidify the team greatly. Could possibly be the difference in 5th place and 2nd place.
I actually beat that up some.

With current rankings, we are projected to finish in 5th with 70.5 points.

I gave us some bonus activity and placed us better in a few spots that moved us up to 86 and still in 5th.

Troy - moved from 7th to 3rd.
RR - added 2 points
Vega - left it alone
49 - added 1.5 due to wildcard status
57 - added 1 for bonus
65 - added 1 for bonus
74 - added .5 for placement
84 - I’m not sure where to put him. So I homered in .5
97 - .5 because I’m a homer (10, but I’ve got him as an AA.
285 - plus 7…yes, I think he does significantly better than 8th with no bonus points.

That brings us to 86 points, which is barely edging out ISU for 4th.

So here is the rub…I truly believe RR can at least BR. Even with that, Troy will do some heavy lifting as well as Robi and Dee. If either of the 3 hiccup, it’s a significant point drop.

So, IF, IF we throw Jax in there. We add 10-12 points in difference if RR underperforms. That point total still leaves us a few points behind Iowa for 3rd.

*caveat* Iowa has begun a history of poor performances from too many guys in March. I don’t think their 106 point total comes to fruition. So yes, Jax would push us into 3rd (if RR seems to need more time.)

*caveat2* Ohio State is on fire right now. Can that hold up? I think so? They’ve also underperformed in recent tourneys, but they look different this year. I don’t see them sending 5 or 6 guys to the finals. But I also think Paddy performs better than his current ranking and I think Geog does noticeably better than 0 points. The most I can find to take away from them is huge, around 15 points. But really, it’s probably more like 8-10 points…which isn’t enough for us to catch them.

*caveat3* I’m a big fan of throwing out the best you can. In a perfect storm, we can, or another team can unseat PSU. They have some questions at 3 weights and upsets/untimely losses happen. So we can sneak one if Troy, Jax, Vega, Robi and Dee makes the finals, while we Wrestle above current production at 49, 84, 97 and Doucet gets bonus to the semis and upsets a guy to make it to the Finals…that happens, we can return 35 to Stillwater. Seems pipe dream’ish, but that’s all possible.

*caveat4* We become the first program in history to send 10 to the finals and bring home 35 with a 200+ point tourney!

I wish that he would wait to wrestle next year but obviously I am not in control. It could cost us a team title 4 years from now. Yes, we likely will have a good replacement after his eligibility is gone. But it may be true that you get a Jax Forrest once every 10 years.

I don’t disagree. I’m not joking when I say he could win 4 at 4 weights…so I want that best option for him to accomplish that. I’m also optimistic that RR improves to an AA placement.

But, in his time, he would still have 3 shirts and it won’t cost us a team title in the next 4. The staff will put their best foot forward, so there’s that.

You know Ronnie lost to a true freshman from WVU? Man that kid might be the national champ in March 🤣

There are tons of variables with injuries, illness, grind of the season, pulling weight etc... so who knows what the top teams will look like at the end of the season. Having said that, I think Jax could make more of a difference than a lot of folks think. Before I make my case, this is by no means meant to disparage Ronnie, I love the guy. And I could be completely wrong, this is just my opinion from watching both wrestle.

1.) Jax is one of the best wrestlers in the entire world at this very moment. Ronnie is not in the same Universe right now.
2.) Jax is a large 133 lber, Ronnie is a 125 lber in my opinion.
3.) Jax is more physically mature, just look at their bodies. Jax has a lot more muscle on him than most think, chest, shoulders, back, just not in the arms.
4.) Jax is a bonus scoring machine. Ronnie is not that. Jax could tech or pin his way to the finals.
5.) If Jax starts 2nd half, he'll be fresh when nationals rolls around.

I think Jax could score 25 pts at nationals. It wouldn't surprise me if Ronnie scored 4 or 5.

Just my opinion.

A little off subject, but how good is Jamison Forrest? I know he’s young but is he or do people think he might be elite?

Great analysis. I see 140 as the magic number. No one has ever scored that many points and not won. You put five guys in the finals, assuming the other five aren't total stiffs, you're there. There are obviously a ton of different combinations to hit that number, but putting five in the finals is the most simple to me.

So you are in the room? So you are saying they trained thru the dual
Man you get envious haha.

I asked two questions. You didn’t answer either, then go to prying on my access. Just answer the questions above in the spirit of discussion.

I like discussion! It looked to me like heavy training up to the dual. Buncha dudes looked more tired than usual.
