Looks like the game was @ Utah Valley. Still shouldn't lose to them.

Well, we know why BYU lost. Utah Valley's mascot is Willy Woverine but he looks suspiciously similar to Teen Wolf.

And so, we all know why BYU got ranked as high as they did- it was based almost entirely on beating an "at the time" ranked Oregon team that has since proven it is a terrible Oregon team. That's it. Isn't that funny? Someone says, "Yeah, but they beat Oregon." Well, take a number. St. Mary's beat Oregon, too, and Houston also beat them by 30. It would appear Oregon isn't quite the measuring stick the AP and coaches voters were thinking.

It’s going to be that type of year in college basketball, We had another one like this too. The 2013-14 year maybe? Where nobody was world beaters. And anyone could lose to anyone in any given night.

So, show up to play or get beat/go home.

Didn't Pope coach at Utah valley beofre BYU? May be wrong on that. Not a good look though either way.
Yes he did. And now Mark "Maddog" Madsen (from 98 Stanford, and Lakers victory parades fame) is the UVU coach.

BYU and UVU are basically in the same town their campuses are about 5 miles apart. This loss, while surprising, follows the typical pattern for BYU. They always seem to throw in real head-scratchers against random WCC schools.

Oregon looks worse than Memphis does and I'm not exaggerating. They’re really bad.

Asked how some teams play play well early against supposedly better ones, Charles Barkley once said that until you are a 1/3 through a season "You don't know you suck yet!" As with many things Chuck says, I agree, Polls should not come out until at least 1/4 through a season. (Yes, I know it's what we all talk about, good for bar convos, etc, but still...)

There's a lot of truth to that. Chuck is a wise man that tries to make himself sound like a clown.

Speculation is fine but I agree solid polls would better reflect teams after 1/4 to 1/3 of the season has passed. It would make early season wins to be put in better context as well.
