I could be wrong - but I thought that was the families of the senior basketball, cheer, managers, etc. - ie NOT football recruits.

Am I wrong?

Some fans here will always find something to complain about. So 50 prime seats were given to HS football recruits. That is 50 out of 8200.
Yet you would think the world is coming to an end because they wouldn't cheer.

Much ado about nothing.
Far more than 50

My bigger gripe is that they block off 5-10 more rows than they really need. Feel bad for the students who would have loved to be there today but couldn’t get a seat.
This is the issue....you keep students from attending. Maybe put students on bottom and move recruits/parents towards the top portion.

they should at least put them all the way up at the top of the section of bleachers. That way they won’t be seen sitting down. Put the students in the lower section where they can make some noise.

No students were denied access per Jerry Carino. You guys need to stop with this nonsense already. And someone at the game posted in a different thread that football had about 60 people the rest of the seats were for parents of senior cheerleaders, band, etc.

It never dawned on me that they would have Senior Day for the other groups but they are all important parts of the overall experience. Now taking that into account plus the fact that all students were allowed in this thread should be locked.

We look during timeouts and when you watch the game you can see people on the court side sitting on their hands is frustrating.

It is also BS that students were not denied admission. They simply reduce the amount available. My son is a freshman and they ran out of tickets but luckily I had 3.

It was both. The section wasn't just blocked off for football recruits. It was also for those like you said. So yell at the parents in that section as well for not cheering. Most probably didn't even know what the hell they were watching and were just there supporting their kid.

Should not be shut off for 50 kids who are sitting on their hands. I will never ever agree with this.
Had to miss this years but I know in past basketball Letterwinners days they also bumped us to the back of that section so they could block a bunch of rows for football recruits. Was surprised they wouldn’t have the basketball guys up front.

What were you going to do with the extra if he got in the student section?

Imagine being a 4 star recruit invited to a basketball game only to be stuck in the worst seats in the house.

The #1 recruit in NJ Bisontis really enjoyed his time at the RAC today

Right, they blocked off the left 1/3 (facing it) for probably 50 kids plus staff, families, etc. If that’s not blocked off you can fit significantly more students than other people.
The attendance was 8300 which means 300 additional fans were in attendance .I don't see the problem and yes football will always drive the bus.

Why can’t the recruits AT LEAST sit at the top of the section ?? And have students get the closer seats ?!

visually would be way better ! Plus the recruits get to walk by the entire student section and have sight on it all to really get a feel for the vibe. Instead their direct sight of fans is the 100s.

I’d bet we could secure more interest by putting them in the back of the section and strategically placing some of our coeds in front of them in their line of sight. (Things SEC programs do)

There were two recruits that stood out to me. There was one I think in the first/second in the middle of the row in a Rutgers sweatshirt that was really into the game. He was cheering and waving his pom-pom all game.Does anyone know who he was? There was also a kid about a row behind him that was also into the game otherwise I really didn't see much enthusiasm.

Definitely. The recruits should be put in the nosebleed section, given a watered down drink and a hotdog on a soggy roll, and then completely ignored.

oh come on man. It’s like another 20 rows up. It doesn’t look great on TV. Plus those are the seats right in front of the visitors bench.

no football recruit is going to know the difference or care one tiny bit .

i think they would be able to soak in the experience a lot more from the vantage point overseeing the student section from the top 12 rows instead of the bottom

I think it is absurd. Schiano is living off our men's basketball team's success. Our students should be in those seats. When our basketball recruits attend a football game we usually get clobbered. Football must start showing major improvement and carry their own weight. We were only 2-7 in BIG 10 football games this past season and never even got beyond the 50 yard line against Penn State. We got beaten to a pulp by Maryland with a bowl game on the line. Ohio State lost 52-13, Michigan State Lost 31-13, Northwestern Lost 21-7, Wisconsin Lost 52-3, Penn State Lost 28-0, Maryland Lost 40-16 and Wake Forest we lost 38-10. On top of that we just lost our top recruiter in Coach Brown. This is totally embarrassing. We are a basketball school.
