8 were upsets, 6 to unranked teams. Oregon currently up 13 on #9 Arizona in the second half, and some more games left.

Make it 11 - 8 to unranked teams

College basketball has become not only a tourney of parody but a season of parody. If it’s a Top 100 team? You’d better not sleep.

I think it makes it really great to watch.

It’s like the anti college football where the same teams constantly make the playoffs.

You never know what’s going to happen with college bball.

Heck we look like complete crap vs a South Carolina team that’s terrible and then turn around and beat UT on the road.

It’s wild lol

Everybody has enough talent to beat you, if you do not shoot or play well.

Thing is even if you are the less talented team defending 3 pt shots is more random than defending 2 pt shots. So just bomb away from 3 and hope they fall. That’s how UK losses at home to USC. I’d venture to guess most upsets happened that way.

There’s a lot more randomness to all this than anyone would like to admit. Especially come tourney time. ONE of the top teams still wins most of the time but you can never really tell who is going to get upset by some random team that just shoots crazy one game

It definitely seems as if there is a lot more parity than there used to be. I'm just thrilled we were on the right side of it today. :)

Love how Kansas never fouls but their opponents do. Uncanny I tell you.

Kentucky's biggest issue right now is turnovers. Even with Wheeler not playing today, Kentucky still managed to turn it over 19 times. That cannot happen period.

Our FT's also improved a little, but still needs some work. For the first time this season, I watched a team having fun out there. I can't imagine the pressure on these guys before this game was played. It's good to see them enjoying it today. Now, it's time to get ready for Georgia on Tuesday.

I hate to invoke the ghost of Tubby Smith Ball-line defense but for God and all that is mighty if we could just cut off dribble penetration a little better we'd be a different team. We get beat off the dribble at will then Oscar slides over to help and the result is a foul on Oscar or an easy assist or an easy tip-in. Just point blank layup misses by Tennessee won the game for us. I lost count of how many times they blew by their defender then missed an easy layup.

We turned it over on 28% of our possessions and yet......still won. Crazy.

Yeah definitely need to clean that up. Tho TBH up until this game it wasn't that much of an issue. On the season we've only turned it over on 17% of our possessions.

Encouraging signs on offense was the offensive rebounding (which was missing earlier this season) and getting to the line and making free throws.

Tho in the end the defense was what really stepped up this one.

100% They got to the rim at will. Thankfully missing almost unchallenged layups. We were lucky alot today.

Kinda like St. Pete beating us and some other good teams last year. Yet, everyone blames Cal. **** happens every year. Not just to UK, but to Duke Kansas, and others. Funny that when it happened most wanted to fire Cal. Not that much at Duke or Kansas. Says a lot about the fan base. People expecting NC’s and final fours every year, just not happening.

Exactly.
I mean it doesn't change the fact it stinks when it happens but Duke has had upsets in the tournament. Kansas has had upsets in the tournament. At some point those St Peter's games are going to happen to even very good teams.

The other thing about that game tho was just the timing. We weren't playing well at all at the end of that season and St Peters was. And they backed it up by going to the Elite 8, knocking off a good Purdue team on the way as well.

It’s not that we lost though. It was HOW we lost. We were up 7 with like 5 minutes to go. You have to win that.

We went to Cal stall ball. And it’s bit us in the butt before. And it did then. THATs why people were so upset. I don’t think any reasons all Uk fan thought that team was going to win the title after our SEC struggles. But we should’ve won that game. But we puckered up and played not to lose.

We’re just all tired of seeing that.

I don't know.
I mean at the 10 min mark in the first half St. Peters was up by 2. At the half we were tied. At the 10 min mark in the second half we were up 2.

Yeah I agree you have to close games out but up 7 with 5 to go was still just 3 possessions.
I feel like St Peters basically played us even the entire game.

Nah. We had that. Toppin was killing them. And Cal took him out in one of his head scratching subs.

Xavier with yet another thriller this time an 80-76 win over Marquette in a battle of ranked teams for 1st place in the Big East. Souley Boum hit a 16 foot jumper to break a tie game with 30 seconds left then went on to hit 4 straight FT's to seal the win. Xavier with Sean Miller back has turned this program around after missing the NCAA's 4 years in a row.
