Games that pique my interest this week (I'm sure there's several more than what I'll list)
1) Omaha Westside (0-0) at Omaha North (0-0)
- Nothing more entertaining to me than seeing how a team responds the year following a state title and/or state runner-up. Westside and Millard South are "top dogs" in my opinion, which I'm sure many share, however, Omaha North and Coach Martin are always in the race. I think this is poised to be the most physical Class A game of the week, for sure. I have this my "upset", as well. Which may just be insane, who knows.
Omaha North 24 - Westside 21
2) Gretna East (0-0) at Seward (0-0)
- I think it's rare to see a "start-up" school have things takeoff like Gretna East has. They have a great staff, kids are bought in, and they're only getting better. However, Seward has that old school toughness to them. They're no easy week 1 opponent. I think this one will be low scoring and the "defensive battle of the week".
Seward 17 - Gretna East 13
3) Aurora (0-0) at Pierce (0-0)
- Class C1's top game to me for a couple of reasons.. Aurora is Aurora, looking to get back on top. Pierce hasn't been the same since the departure of their class of 2023 (??) I think they'll be back with something to prove this Fall. Should be a great one.
Aurora 28 - Pierce 27 (OT)
4) Wahoo Neumann (0-0) at Norfolk Catholic (0-0)
- Obvious reasons. This will be solid football across the board. Coach Bellar and NC aren't going anywhere, anytime soon.
Norfolk Catholic 38 - Neumann 21
