11-22-63 Possible Spoilers in thread

I unplugged after the final whistle Saturday night and stayed away from anything sports related until Monday morning's T&L on the way to work. Folks were sending me replays, screen shots, the SEC apology etc. I ignored them all and used the time to finish the King novel so highly recommended here.

I don't know what I expected but it was not that. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The feeling I had after finishing the book is similar to how Jake felt when he made his final decision.

I'll say no more until someone reminds me again how to hide things with the SPOILER button.

I too didn’t know what to expect.
Would be fun - I think? - to be able to actually experience something like that however.

Great story, now you need to go an watch it on Hulu. They did a pretty good job, but it is cool how they handled some aspects of the storyline and the botched others.

Gonna let the wife read it first. I'm tempted by the show, but I'm not sure I want the characters' depictions to replace the ones in my head.

I thought it was really good. The thing Stephen King does well is nostalgia. He makes you remember what it’s like to have a childhood crush or to have a childhood best friend. But remembering what it’s like to be a kid also makes your remember what it’s like to be scared, rationally or irrationally. You see that more in books like It but it’s in this one too

I loved the book. Didn’t much care for the Hulu version though. It was not awful, I guess I just expected more.

1) I never thought about that, but you're spot on. I haven't read a ton of his work, but the ones I've enjoyed the most have all dealt with the past in some form:

I haven't read IT. I noticed a few things from his description of Derry that hark back to it, but I'm sure there's more that flew under my radar. The time travel part reminded me of Hearts in Atlantis some, and I've read somewhere that Danny's imaginary friend from the Shining was actually his future self trying to help him in the novel rather than living in his finger.

I was totally in love with Sade by the end. Head over heals, and that was just from the book. I loved how you really felt like you were in the 60’s. Just such a great character builder and story teller. I missed all the characters for like a week after finishing it as if they were friends that had moved away. I loved every page of it.

It had a good cast, Sade lacked a little for me but the Gadon woman was sufficient, though I don’t know who could live up to the Sade in my head. The great thing about the series is how you feel as though you are in the 60’s. I really felt for Oswald ’s wife. She felt so real in the book and series. I’m going to rewatch it soon.

Wow! The Goodreads reviews are all over the place with this 900+ pager. Sounds interesting tho.

To be honest, I’m 400 pages in right now so not sure how it turns out, but it’s great so far. Took me 2-3 chapters to get into it
