feels like that's some kind of record for most wins between two schools. Correct anyone?

Nope. Didn't look far, so this may not be the record either, but the 84' CWS Final was between 66 win Cal State and 60 win Texas.

Ok 66 wins is just silly. Did they used to play more games back then? We've only played 65 games to this point (52-13).

‘82 CWS semifinal Wichita State (72) vs. Texas (59)
‘82 loser’s bracket Wichita State (71) vs. Oklahoma State (57)
‘82 Final Miami (53) vs. Wichita State (73)

I don’t know if any of these are records either.

Well since it's impossible for us to even play 73 games this season that answers the question on if teams used to play more games back then.

Different era. Back then, only the SEC had limits on games played, so we'd play a 55-game schedule while schools like Texas, Miami, FSU & Wichita St. would play 70.

most of these are home games, no? with early inning runs given up before we've batted or arrived at the game.

Also why Phil Stephenson’s NCAA all-time hit record will never be broken

He was playing 70 games at Wichita State and has the 416 all time hits. Between the draft and reduced number of games, his record will probably be safe forever

SEC records are really the only things that matter, where the competition is (arguably) equal. But ultimately I have never cared about college records. At that level, it's about winning and losing for your school and program. Stats and records are good to tell a story, but not to crown champions.

Numbers are much more important in pro sports.
