Wow. This is a gem.

"I don't know if they have a freshman star like Anthony Davis or Karl Towns. But they have five-star kids like always. And getting Reid Travis was big. They've got experienced guys. That helps a lot."

How do you go from 15, 18, to 38 %. More than double the percentage of votes from the 2nd best team? Color me dubious. Truth is, there isn't that much disparity between any of these teams. Kansas is going to be really good, but let's not get carried away.
Kansas 38 percent
Kentucky 18 percent
Duke 15 percent
Gonzaga 11 percent
Tennessee 9 percent

Never worry about Kansas. They’ll find some way to piss it all away.

Just look at last year- did everyone a favor by bouncing Duke then didn’t even show up against Villanova.

But I’m sure they’ll have another great regular season before embarrassing themselves again in March.

Nope.

I just don't see the likes of the Lawson brothers and LaGerald Vick cutting down the nets in April. KU has one real pro - Grimes - and an army of maybes behind him (NBA maybes are fine when they've been in a system together for a while; which is not the case with KU). Add in a brand new backcourt =

Ain't happenin', folks.

I don't even get the point of this post. Coaches think Kansas is better? Like every other year who cares. UK gonna steam roll some really good teams this year. If this team makes 8 to 12 3s on you your losing by 30

I think Azubuike and De Sousa (if eligible) could have pro careers.

But to me there is something about Kansas... I dunno... for some reason I wouldn't be surprised if there is some "team turmoil" there. Jmo.

Kansas is the one team I never have fear of. Last year when they bear Duke in the elite 8, I was ecstatic. It was like knocking out two birds with one stone and I knew it.

Making it to the Final 4 when we were as thin as were on the Front Court was pretty solid effort....

I cant think of any college team over the last 20 years that would have been able to hang with Nova's 3 point shooting against KU that night.....They could not miss....especially in the first half.

That said, the coaches appear to be leaning toward the experience level returning for KU...I don't see their being that big of a disparity...

Biggest question for you guys: will the Lawsons buy into their new role?

Coaches misunderstood the question about KU. They thought the chances of not advancing past first weekend

Right. Nobody in the last 20 years would have beaten Nova. Sure thing.

What he said. Nova had all those shots because KU didn't defend . If you let a team get hot then you are doomed . That is why you play D . It isn't like they were shooting Steph Curry half court 3's that are unguardable . KU just didn't come to play . It happens but lets not act like Nova was a powerhouse.

Fair post but maybe you should have played some defense against Nova? I know they were good but I didn't consider them to be world beaters.

Well...will try to reply to several comments...No matter is said , I m sure there will be crys of BS but here it goes:

'KU didn't defend"
: Looked at the first half when they hit 13...Thirteen FIRST HALF shots and there was a hand in the face of the shooter on 8 of the 13 made shots (painful viewing by the way)....

The Lawsons are head cases/Bad Chemistry:

I don't get this....Were they upset when their dad was fired? Yes and one made a lewd comment against Tubby...Nothing I would consider "thug" ....Did one of them punch another play in practice? Yes....and he sat out on the trip to Italy...There was the absolute public crucification by Jeff Goodman on what ended up to be total fabrication of a lunch check....absolutley bogus....Will they be good teamates? I guess the season will show but for whatever, reason BBN thinks they are thugs I just dont get it...

Will Lawsons fit into their role? Fair question....But If they don't fit into the role HCBS wants, they will be sitting down as he has done year after year after year.

Rifle Championship winners....No idea what this would relate to...

either you don't follow your own team very closely or youre playing dumb. when the lawsons jumped joe Jackson he claims they pulled a gun on him while at Memphis. was pretty common knowledge. they also left Memphis in classless manner by going as far as to make a video that said "F*** Tubby" and tweeting something about giving Memphis the middle fingers on the way out....yea. bet theyre great kids.

Kansas will win the Big 12 again for the umpteenth year in a row and their fans will rejoice. Then they will flame out in the NCAA tournament again. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Pretty tired of Big 12 titles actually...Final fours/championships is the real measure of program success...and no one is going to have a sustained run like UCLA did in the 60's...

Regarding "Flame out"...

Historically UK has better numbers yes...and no I dont count Helms titles

BUT FWIW: Last 10 years: UK and KU have same number of first weekend exits (2) Same number of national championships (1) ...Think UK has 4 Final fours and KU Has 3...think we are about the same in Elite 8's but not sure...I do know KU has not made NIT appearance (couldn't resist)

Sorry bud but we don't cherry pick eras over here. True blue bloods don't resort to that tactic if they have sustained success. If that's the route you insist on taking to bolster your argument, then you can't boast on any of Kansas' successes prior to your starting point of 10 years. That means you can't bring up Dr. Naismith, Phog Allen, Dean Smith, Adolph Rupp or any of your historical references pertaining to college basketball because they fall out of your 10 year window you've painted yourself into. Thanks and have a good day.

I Mentioned the Tubby tweet....

Did not know about Joe Jackson...Googled "Lawson brothers Joe Jackson" and see strongly contradicting allegations comments on CatsIllustrated and reddit...IF the gun thing was true, that would be bad...Most of what I read seems to indicate it was not...In an ironic twist, it was at Penny Hardaway gym and he intervened.

Does see like KJ has some ego issues....Dedric not so much....U cats live in the Memphis area but dont seem to be fans of the town or Memphis program...

I picked the last 10 years because that's when Calipari got to UK and the Stats from ESPN showed the last 10 years when I googled NCAA Tournament history...

The guys you mention are pretty big names though in College Basketball history. Historic names actually...More than happy to discuss the history of BB anytime.

Enjoy a nice bourbon this evening and make it a great day tomorrow.

i think preseason UK and KU are the best two teams
i think at the end of the year UK and KU will be the best two teams
UK beats KU for the championship............again

I think Kentucky and the JailHawks are one and two . I also think before the year is over the Jailhawks will have yet another scandal from some of those great kids that speak seven languages just like ever year right Rug Doctor !!

That's fine; KU has beat UK the last three times. Prior to that UK was on a three game winning streak. As far as to KU always flaming out, that has been overplayed in recent years. I see it more in Self's early years, but it has improved as of late. Three elite eights and a final four in the prior three years. Bottom line is that in a one and gone tournament, high seeds are not going to get the the final four every single year.

The coaches poll doesn't mean much at all this early in the year, just like other articles endorsing other teams being the best. Time will tell and I think by conference season all teams will have a better idea where they stand

2012 UK would have won and easily. Nova was good but not 2012 UK good. Guarding shooters can change outcomes. We had Davis Jones Miller mkg that all could harass shooters and switch.

in the cal era UK has only had 1 1st weekend exit. Indiana In 2016
