Is it surprising to you that the top qb in the draft might get drafted #1 by a team that desperately needs a QB?
No, but it's probably surprising to a lot of people on here it's not a Colorado player lol

The big question I'd be trying to get my arms around on Shedeur if I was an NFL GM is how coachable is he? Arm talent and accuracy seem legit. However, he's basically only had to answer to his dad so how much has he really been held accountable in his career? His first OC at CU, a pretty respected coach, was relieved of his play calling duties in less than one season - was that because of Shedeur? Then this season, we saw more than one game when he was throwing the ball deep into the 4th quarter with the lead when all they needed to do was run clock - the stupidity almost cost them a couple of games. Hard to believe the current OC, Shurmer, who has alot of NFL experience, was telling him to throw the ball. Seems like that again was Shedeur doing what he wanted, or dad wanting to see him pad his stats which no NFL coach is going to do.

If I had to pick between the 2 CU players and was just drafting on who I think will be a better pro and more of a sure bet, I'd take Hunter.

I would trade that pick so fast you couldn’t blink before I did it. If I needed a QB, I would make a call to the Vikings for McCarthy or try to outbid them for Darnold.
Agree, maybe not necessarily the Vikings, but someone will trade for the pick and the Titans can get a bounty if the right team makes the deal.

Weak QB draft class this year. That's why Sanders waited to this year to declare. He knows he's not as good as Bo Nix, Jayden Daniels, Caleb Williams, Michael Penix and Drake Maye. Last year's class.

I won’t be all that surprised if the Vikes don’t re-sign Darnold. They have Daniel Jones on the practice squad. I have no doubt that O’Connell could win with Jones at QB after watching what he’s done with Darnold. They might still like McCarthy too but Jones and Darnold IMO have better arms.

Yeah Shedeur has great tools and a very high ceiling, but his tendency to commit catastrophic mistakes put his floor somewhere near Jemarques Russell. Not really a QB in the class that I would want to spend a top 5 pick on.

I think Hunter will be a solid NFL WR. Not sold on him as a DB. Would make some big plays on that side, but NFL teams want certainty from their DBs - not drama.

I think it’s more surprising that he’d be considered after he quit on his team after he achieved a record. That to me shows a very selfish player that will end up being a toxic presence in the locker room, the worst position to have a toxic personality would be at QB. I wouldn’t touch Ward or SS with a 10 foot pill, the downside is much greater than the upside.

Don't be silly.

Neither Caleb Williams nor Jayden Daniels suited up for their bowl games last year.

Classic case of teams reaching for a qb when there aren't any worthy of a top 3 pick.
Man if you can get a late first and an extra 2nd for a top 2 spot, you probably take it unless you see a can’t miss left tackle you need badly. Is there a transcendent WR I’m missing in this draft?

You could not pay me to draft Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders #1 and I am not certain who would be clamoring pay a ton to trade up. Tennessee wasted a 1st round pick on QB not long ago. Cleveland has multiple QBs under contract. Giants? Maybe but cannot see them paying to move. Raiders maybe if they are more sold on one of the QBs than I am. This seems like a year to stay away from the QBs.

Ya but Cam suited up the first Half to break some record . Than told the coaches at half he was done a watched his teammates lose and didn’t try to do anything about it . Apples and oranges situation.

Seeing how some reclamation projects like Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield have fared with their new teams/situations, makes me wonder if, in a weak QB class, trading a mid or low round pick for a formerly highly drafted player like say, Zach Wilson, would be more enticing for a team like Tennessee, LV or even Cleveland?

Not saying I would, but if you don't like any of the QBs in this class, that would seem like a low risk option

I don't know. I just don't see a player like Jeremiah Smith or even a Marvin Harrison Jr. Can't miss guys. I also don't watch a lot of random games either.

you're right.

not playing at all vs at least playing a half is a completely different situation.

glad we agree.

I understand that, but if you’re not going to play in the bowl make it known, let the backup get the developmental snaps over practice and get the whole games experience. Playing just for a half only to break a record screams selfish and self centered…

I’m not a fan of opting out of the bowl all together, however I can understand why some of the kids do so, and by them skipping the whole game the coaches know they won’t be there and can start getting the next man up some much needed 1st team reps.

That’s just my perspective of it though, obviously I’m not a GM so my perspective is just that, but if I were I wouldn’t touch either of those two.

Shedeur is a me first guy is why I wouldn't waste a pick on him. So many times he could tuck it and run for an easy first down, but he's not willing to put his body on the line and would rather force a bad throw.

Tennessee hasn't picked a QB in the first round since Mariotta in 2015.

Cam ward?

Check out this story from Fox Sports
Cam Ward is absolutely the best QB available in this draft. Any GM that would take the headache that is Shadeur Sanders over Ward needs to be rode out of town immediately. Cam Ward carried Miami to wins in multiple games and put up insane numbers. As much as I enjoy having Dylan Raiola and believe he will grow into a top QB, if we had Cam Ward we would have won at least 4 more games (Illinois, OSU, Iowa, USC come to mind). He's that good.
