It was bound to start spreading more rapidly. Economy had to get going again. Although several business never saw any downturn. Over last several weeks most have gone back to normal business and several have thrown caution to the wind. It is what it is. Several don't want to where mask. Whether they do any good or not. We weren't going to stop spread completely and who knows if we could have actually slowed it, we just postponed it. Most were going to get it eventually

Patients (1) in ICU and (2) on ventilators remains flat, though. I guess we'll know in the next 7-10 days whether that is because the newly infected will get that sick but aren't there yet, or they are younger folks who will recover by quarantining at home.

Absolutely. The economy had to get going again. We just have to learn how to live with it.

Everyone that enters the ER is tested regardless of their reason for going to the ER.

Kids are the ones getting and spreading it is what it seems like to me, and not showing up in the ICU or with hospital stays. Flood of sleepovers, travel baseball, parties, beach vacations with big groups of friends - "well, the end of the school year was tough on them, we had to let them start seeing their friends again." Parents and then grandparents get it. I hope the ICU usage doesn't spike next, but it seems like it is in other states.

Dobbs is a huge Bernie Sanders supporter. He is able to control the numbers. He is unchecked by a governor who has his head up his own ***. This is very scary stuff. Epidemiologists are by trade socialist and they are influencing public policy. Let’s face it, this virus is only deadly from a very small percentage of the population whose life expectancy is probably less than a year. For that reason, most people have gone unhampered with their lives. Dobbs is doing everything he can to somehow scare people into compliance. Since they aren’t afraid of the virus, he wants them to be afraid of not having medical care. It’s not what they share it’s what they don’t share that is troubling. There is a backlog in elective surgeries. They are testing everyone that comes into the hospital. If someone is asymptomatic, tests positive, and is at the hospital for an elective surgery are they deemed to be a “hospitalized for covid-19”? Also, if you notice, to date the ICU and Vent numbers don’t correlate very well with overall hospitalizations, with vent and ICU staying relatively stable. Also, there has been an uptick in cases for quite some time the daily deaths are going down.

ya the protest in multiple cities where thousands of people yelled and marched together for hours had nothing to do with it. It’s all businesses and travel ball**

The spikes we're seeing aren't in places where there were protests because most protestors wore masks. They're in places that started opening places like beaches and bars and restaurants where people aren't wearing masks.

This chart gives little context. We are one of the few countries that continues to aggressively ramp up testing. More cases is partially a biproduct of more testing. I'm not saying COVID is the boogeyman. It's real as hell. But you have to know the comparative increase in # of confirmed cases vs the rest of the world speaks on how much more resources we have to do the testing. And to be fair, we aren't self managing well enough either. That is also a factor. But to think this someone a singular biproduct of people not wearing masks is ignorant.

If only the experts hadn't ruined their credibility by initially insisting that masks were not necessary and were actually not a good thing to do.

Perhaps they made a mistake when initially assessing a new virus. Given that its month 3 of knowing masks do help reduce the spread, is it time to move the 17 on and not focus on what was incorrect a quarter of a year ago?...or is more time needed before we can stop complaining about them being wrong?

This graph isn't comparable to the other.

The confirmed cases is per million, and the testing is total numbers. We'd need to see testing as a portion of the population to get a better comparison.

For example, Italy is at 5m tests, compared to our ~28m, but the also have less than 1/5 our population. Adjusted for that, our lines on the graph would be at a nearly identical point. Worth nothing though, is that ours is increasing at a much faster rate, so a future graph, assuming the trends continue, would be much different, also likely *because* of the results shown in the first graph.

A lot of words to say that I don't think it's just testing.

Median life expectancy is a nursing home is 2.2 years. Most have probably been there for a year already...so we have shutdown our society because half the people dying died maybe a few months sooner? Totally a socialist agenda.

Sweden's epidemiologist hit it on the head in March. Paraphrase... "We missed the senior citizen mortality at the beginning. Had we known, all assisted facilities and staff would have been quarantined. Would have reduced our death rate by thousands. And, not being obtuse, but most died less than a year, if not a few months, before they would have."

It incubates way quicker in Republicans and that's a known fact, based on a Newsweek report about a spike in cases the day after the Trump rally with a headline that implied they were related? Even the stupid virus is political!***

Fauci still said this past week that masks provide very little protection from the spread.

I know of 5 people who have tested positive since Monday...and one of their spouses is waiting for his results, none of the 5 have any symptoms... ages are 17,17, 42, 48, 51... the 42 year old is a Nurse who got it at work and yes they wear mask and patients wear mask.... brought it home to daughter who had friend over and she got it..... the 51 year old had his sister and her husband over for dinner... he tested positive in a routine physical exam, so his sister and her husband got tested, sister positive husband waiting on results...none of them have any symptoms.

That may be true where you live, but at our facility you must exhibit symptoms to be tested in the ER. Every patient that gets admitted for an inpatient stay does get tested though, regardless of symptoms.

It’s both testing and self preservation. None of the wannabe politicians want to admit that 2 things can be true at the same time. It’s mind boggling.

MDHS shows there have been 11,330 antibody tests, but doesn't give results. If antibody tests are counting as daily cases, that number should be given with an asterisk

Cases are at an all time high. But Deaths continue to decline.

Nationally, cases are at an all time but deaths have plummeted 75% on a weekly basis as compared to late April and early May.

Didn't Fauci say a few days ago that they (health officials) knew that masks helped, but basicially lied about it so the public wouldn't run out and buy masks to the point that health care workers couldn't get them? Sort of a slippery slope there.

That's true, but he should have stated the facts, not that they virtually did no good to the public. So yes, he lost credbility by not telling the truth.

Not the protesters I saw. Sure, there were a few wearing masks, but it was far fewer than 50%. Go back and take a look at the videos.

Further question - are you including rioters, arsonists, and looters as protesters? Not many of them at all had masks on (except some who were wearing face coverings in a effort to hide their identities).
