We don't need a QB change. He took what the defense gave him and completed 78% of his passes. He will probably exit week 1 having the highest completion % of all QB's. He will keep getting better.
Agree. Everyone thinks he's checking down so badly. He wasn't Sam Keller out there only throwing to QB's in the backfield. They were getting 5-7 yards out of every pass like they were running plays. Very different.

I actually liked what I saw from DR last night. He didn't make any mind-blowing plays but he was efficient and didn't take too many risks. Big improvement from year 1 IMO. Hunter, Key and Lindenmeyer are going to be nice options for him, and Johnson was great last night and will definitely keep teams on their toes as a rusher and pass catcher. Overall I think the foundation is there for this to be a really solid B1G offense by season's end.

The game was close enough, that a single bad play on special teams could have cost us the game. But that didn’t happen. Ekeler gets credit.

Run defense is a problem. Don’t like our chances against Michigan.

DR was quicker to scramble than last year, and got us at least one first down with his feet. A lot of dinking and dunking. One near pick-6 that would have flipped the game. Overall pretty efficient. The thing that bothers me is that DR doesn't provide many Wow! moments.
Dylan is slower than mud, so that makes him dangerous.

Bad coaching last night. That last drive we had them on their heels with no time outs and a long 4th down and coach calls a TO to let them regroup? SSDD

trying to be balanced on offense when we aren’t balanced on offense. God bless Emmett but he can’t carry the ball 25 times like that. Absolute crap outside of him, and we all knew that but coach though some how a guy like Nelson was going to shock the world. And we still aren’t recruiting talent @ RB. Just more of the same.

#77 shouldn’t be playing. He was at fault for the near DR fumble. #57 is much more talented and it isn’t funny. IMO I’d rather #57 be great on 99% of the plays and have one bonehead play then play #77 and him “do everything right” but be just not very good. Please rewatch the line if you don’t believe me.

where was Carter or HH in the passing game? Having to play Luke most of the time because 77 sucks and needs help just doesn’t cut it. Figure out how to coach #57 from jumping offsides in the redzone. That’s do-able. You can’t fix 77. And I like Luke. We just need to get the other two involved too.

Rhule has always seemed to me to do what he wants to do, regardless if it’s right. Some coaches are like that vs just facing reality and playing the hand you have
#77 did just fine. Near fumble was on Raiola because he's slow as **** and can't see anything downfield. #57 made some bone headed plays but is probably more talented than the rest. I've seen enough of #69 to know he's never going to amount to anything at LT. Having a 3 man rotation at such a critical position just shows that Donnie boy is as clueless as ever.

We can agree that a 3 man rotation at tackle is dumb. But #77 let his man come clean on Dylan. He ain’t nearly as talented as #57. Not even close. Eyeball test isn’t even in the same world. #69 is a joke.

Completion percentage is a completely overrated stat when the average throw is 3 yards away from LoS.

i watched most of the game. most impressive, the N crowd. and dylan's accuracy. i also thought the running back ran hard and with good effect. run defense was the only weakness that stuck out but cincy is a tough nut. kicking game was also very good. the outcome did not surprise. their qb is a stud but their receiving corps sucks nuts.

I will say winning close games can sometimes lead to bigger wins. I often think of Minnesota in 2019 barely beating 3 average teams before exploding. Stacking wins is a big deal. Now we need play calling that can best hide our deficiencies, and compliment our strengths.
