For all the years of refs absolutely hosing Rutgers, in football, men’s and women’s basketball, all sports really, thought it couldn’t get worse than the Big East but then the B1G is 10x worse .... thought finally we would be saved in the NCAA tournament with neutral refs ... but yet in our biggest moment they still found a way to do it. 0 free throws attempted for Rutgers, not even in the Bonus - Houston is statistically one of the hugest fouling teams coming into this game. They made all their points at the end of Free Throws.
Unreal

Really hurts after going 9-12 in the first half. Really resolved our FT woes down the stretch.

I have a habit of blaming refs

not this game

if anything we got benefit of the officiating for a good potion of game. Maybe Houston got some late calls

but That had no impact

rutger choked. That’s it

Houston got just about all of the favorable calls and non-calls in the second half. There’s NO WAY they only had 5 fouls (I don’t count the intentional 6th foul at the end).

NO WAY

This made a difference, but we still choked and should’ve won

Two things can be true at the same time — we both choked and also got hosed by the whistle down the stretch

For a team that took more than 68% of their FG’s from inside the arc, you should NEVER have a half where you attempt zero FT’s. Borderline unfathomable

How do late calls have no impact? Those are the calls that matter the most... obviously lol

I have to say, the officiating was very lopsided in the second half. IMO, it's not why we lost. We lost because of Myles missing two dunks we caused an 8 point swing and Caleb deciding to be a hero and take a 3 point shot when it wasn't warranted.

Guys let's chew gum and walk at the same time okay?

Yes we did a lot of dumb things to blow the game but if we get even close to a neutral whistle it's not even a game late and we win easily.

There are a lot of factors that contributed to this loss and not including the officials in the second half as one of those big factors is simply lazy.

Yeah they got some calls late.
but- there were a number of calls in the first half against Houston - and our reaction was “not sure what the foul was but I’ll take it”

again, I have a bad habit of blaming refs.

just didn’t see it here.

sorry

ru coaches and players totally choked .... THAT is why we lost.

it hurts. I know. Might feel nice to have someone else to blame (eg the refs) but it’s just not what happened

we played not to lose - not to win..

but, the no whistle was very obvious...

not the reason we lost-- but the reason those horrible plays at the end really mattered...

I still say Pike does not work the refs hard enough. He has to get on them for reasons like this. Cant let these guys call a half where it’s a 16-0 disparity. That’s partially on the coach.

Agree...he has to change this up going forward.

This. It's so obvious it's this.
