We aren’t playing particularly well right now. I expect us to turn it around but this is frustrating. But make no mistake, OM is a very good basketball team that is 100% guaranteed to be in the Dance.

NIT finals. And we lose that.

Ole Miss played harder, mostly smarter and just beat us straight up on our home floor.

We need to drop out of the rankings. We aren't a top 25 team right now.

Lots of 1 on 1 razzle dazzle dribble plays and lots of guys jogging around the 3 point line watching the dribbler. Just horrible fundamentals on rebounding. I'm not impressed with the potential of this team at all.

Yep. And as much as it sucks to say this, the team is going to have to earn the fan base back. This one hurts

This might be true, but when you can't win on the road against bad teams and you can't win at home against good teams, your win opportunities are significantly diminished.

The talent may be there but the heart isn’t. NIT baby!!

What? Our guys played their asses off. We just didn’t make plays and Ole Miss did. Did you really watch that game and your conclusion was that we played with no heart?

Played out as expected. Not sure why I watched it. What is the count....9 wins out of last 11 against us now?

South Carolina loss is inexcusable... but this Ole Miss team just beat the #11 Auburn team by 15 and us by 4. They’ll be a tournament team. SEC basketball is good. SEC refs are bad. We will still win 10 conference games and be a 7-9 seed in the tournament. We have talent. We’re gonna be fine. We had about a 5-8 minute cold streak when Ole Miss hit about 6 threes. The majority of our talent that plays off the bench are true freshmen. We will have some lulls and inconsistency but come March I like this team.

We aren’t going 0-18. Teams go through rough patches where they don’t gel. We’re in one right now. We were in one last year too around games 3-7 or so in SEC play. As long as we get to .500 in league play we’ll be dancing. If we can’t do that, then the conversation can be had about the future. But now is not the time to give up on this team. The players need the fans in times like this. And after last year and the first 13 games of this year, they’ve earned it.

Exactly....a top 20 team....

goes at least 1-1 in these games. I hope we can turn it around, but I'm expecting NIT at this point.

No doubt it’s frustrating. In one year, Kermit took a pile of **** and turned it in to a cohesive unit that will likely be dancing. Meanwhile, in year 4, Howland’s squad of 3 and 4 year players continue to jack up I’ll advised shots in crunch time and have complete mental lapses

This team should be better than what we’re getting

The proverbial “the team needs the fans now”. That boat sailed with this loss! I mean come on man, you can’t actuall enjoy getting see our beloved university get beat by a inferior in state university. I am very angry right now at Howland, Moorhead and Cohen cause all I see for the near future is total mediocrity. And I can’t stand mediocrity especially when we should be/do better. I’m tired of being poor ol missppi State!

An inferior in state university???? Did you not watch that game? That was a well-coached, athletic, good basketball team that beat us. We should have won that game, but Ole Miss is not garbage.

I didn’t make self clear, Inferior University [(Ole Miss) Cheater U.] not inferior team! That’s what makes me really angry Cheater U. which in my opinion is a total inferior university to MSU and they beat our team with a 4th year coach with them having a 1st year coach in our gym! That should never happen unless it’s ok with you to be mediocre.

Not sure what game you watched. There was a big lack of effort in a couple of our guys.

You don’t have a single clue what you are talking about. Played their asses off? Did you miss the wide open 3s and wide open easy baskets Ole Miss had? BS effort on D in 2nd half.

Knew damn well State was not winning this game. Started listening, but even up by 10 we were playing like crap. Davis is a hungrier Coach. Our guys are not committed to defense or rebounding and therefore not committed to winning.

There is no iron in your words of defeat for all Comanche to see. And so there is no iron in your words of victory.

No message board post can hold the iron, it must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of victory and defeat.

Being a State fan is not for the weak. We’ve had 24 hours to sulk over that loss. Now get your helmets on and get back in the game.

On-the-floor leadership missing entirely

The talent may be there but the heart isn’t. NIT baby!!

For the last three seasons this team has been one of the most frustrating I have ever watched and I have been a State fan for over 50 years. There is a ton of individual talent. It's not that they aren't being taught how to play good team basketball, because they do it, on both ends of the court, for 20-30 minutes every game. But this group of guys has a run in every game where they look like they have never seen a basketball game before. Ill-advised, lazy passes; driving into a triple-team with no plan for what to do when he gets there; making switches on defense when picked as if there were no reason in the world to exert yourself at all (like a walk-thru in practice and this killed us over and over yesterday); and then the horrible shot selection, over and over. The duration of these periods of dumb basketball has diminished each season, but they persist. Anybody remember what Richard Williams did to turn one-man-show Dontae Jones into an SEC tourney MVP in one season? State lost some games it might have won with him on the court early in the '96 season, but it paid huge dividends at the end of the season.

Another reason this team is so dysfunctional at times, and a large part of the reason those periods last as long as they do, is that this team has no leader on the court. Nobody on this team seems to have that in his personality.
