  • The AC and heat don’t affect the battery as much as miles and speed do. The external temperature also has an effect. EVs are much less efficient in the winter, but even the Canadians and Norwegians have Teslas with few issues. Forced air is less efficient than just using your heated seats.

    Sometimes I’ll wait for someone in my car with AC on full blast for 30 minutes and May only lose one mile range. I leave “overheat protection” on so my car never gets above 103 degrees internal temperature.

    Police departments are looking at EVs because of the idling needed by cops that unnecessarily wastes fuel. EVs could use AC and their computer systems with minimal effect on range.
