  • I would like legal weed because opioids are dangerous for me. More dangerous than for most people. I could get really hurt and need them, and hopefully under close constant medical supervision I'd be fine.....for the short term. But there could definitely be a time I need them. Weed won't replace that.

But i'm scared I may one day develop a chronic pain. Chronic use of opioids would not be optimal to me. If weed could help some....well screw you for denying that to me.

Weed isn't addictive in the way opioids and alcohol are. Anything can be addictive. That's where weed falls
It's addictive like shopping is addictive. It's mental.

It's not a physical addiction and that's a big difference. And the addictive properties of drugs is why we have the opiod crisis. Addiction is an issue in this country.
I liked beer. And whiskey. I drank for a long time responsibily and worked my way up the corporate ladder to a pretty good job. My drinking just slowly increased. As stress increased my drinking did....I don't know if it's a disease or lack of will power, whichever it is I got bad. To make it brief I got REALLY bad. Lost my job and almost my family. Got sober for a while and Tried a few times to drink responsibly and failed each time. Started AA 16 years ago and have not drank since

Smoked weed on occasion for a few years after I quit drinking, but have not touched ANYTHING in 9 years. But weed never sent my down that road. It's not addictive in the same way. I could smoke weed and function in life. Climb the corporate ladder again

Any amount of alcohol would send me down that road....and opioids too. Anytime I had prescription pain meds I couldn't take them as prescribed. I didn't get hooked and buy more....but I definitely went through the script faster than prescribed.
I posted this, but then thought I had shared too much on a public forum. But I did want you to see it. You don't even have to respond. I just hope you consider my experience and keep you mind open. You are undoubtedly a brilliant person to have gotten where you have in life. (I apologize but I am going to have to send a couple of messages because of the size)

Without going too deep into my life here, since we have an anti pot medical professional here I feel compelled to share way more than I probably should and why I think it should be legal for medical.

I'm fairly old. Been around awhile. Have a degree from state and a couple of decades in corporate America.
