The racist comments on that attached video post are disturbing.
I don’t condone that, didn‘t click on it.

To put a finer point on it, In the U23 championship 2 weeks ago, Turner lost her semifinal match. She poked her opponent on the eye, which required injury time, and then blatantly fishhooked her. Both fouls occurred immediately after falling behind on points.

Very clear pattern that USA Wrestling should address.

Agree it was bad but she's no Baylor Fernandes this isn't her reputation
Neither was Baylor Fernandes until he was.

I'm willing to be patient with her, but not willing to excuse her. This includes not making excuses such as "not ready for senior level" -- what, she's never lost before at any level? Those were multiple, deliberate, flagrant fouls and not in self-defense. She needs figure out how to be better than this.

Either that or find a favorable judge in New Jersey to get the results overturned.

We’ve all seen accidental eye pokes. These weren’t those. They involved lining up an eye with a four-finger wedge (watch her form it before each attack) and jabbing directly and purposefully into it. Don’t care one lick about her talent or age. She’s damn well old enough to know her sick attempt to blur Smirnova’s vision or cause an injury default was premeditated and spineless. Unlike Corby, I don’t factor in a pristine past. Two calculated attempts to injure on the sport’s biggest stage instantly brands her a dirty wrestler. Being DQ’d isn’t enough. Suspension should last at least as long as Smirnova’s recovery.

Pristine past? She did the exact same thing against Ukraine just 2 weeks ago in the U23 semis. Put Corby on ignore- your experience here will be more enjoyable. Recall he is also a big AJ apologist.

I grew up in IL and still talk with many people. Baylor is from IL and he was doing that stuff in Jr high. She's also from IL and that hasn't been her reputation. She was fighting of her back at u23 and ended up fish hooking the girl but when fighting off your back hands get in peoples faces often . Those are the only 2 situations I have seen or heard of . It was definitely uncalled for and she deserved the DQ. Yes she has lost before and has never done this . If she was dirty JB wouldn't be training her she lost her composure and hopefully it never happens again

Cristelle 6-4 over her Russian opponent to go to quarter. She vas very patient.

Kennedy with the fairly quick pin over her German opponent to go to quarters.

3:17 Adaugo with the tech to go to quarters.

3:32 Precious Bell to semis. 3-2.

3:43 Cristelle won 1-1 by criteria to go to semis.

Kennedy lost 6-3 on a last minute takedown to KGZ.

4:09 Adaugo tech 11-1 to go to semi. A much better day.

They’re throwing things back to that Soviet aesthetic. Has the bear been sleeping? Is it awake again?

Spencer will have Iran early round 2

Blaze should win 2 then Iran 1/4

I like Bassett spot he can beat Biabani then 1/4 with russia

Zain has Muskaev round 2 I like his spot

Green has Russian round 2 and Iran 1/4

Levi 1/4 Khaniev Russia

Dake 1/4 Ghasempour or Ramazonov Olympic champ

Trent tough 1/4 Tcokaev but should win and Iran in semi

Snyder 1/4 Sadulaev

Wyatt has #3 Sharipov if he wins he can make semis against zare

We have so many good 1/4 matches that will be the make or break round for team USA.

7 tough 1/4 plus

Spencer sees Iran before 1/4
Zain sees Muskaev before 1/4
Wyatt has #3 right away

Dude.. Ghasempour has to beat Olympic Champ Ramazanov first round. I don't think he does it.

UWW has the worst bracketing on the planet....but, but, but they use ranking series....

A lot of the issues are with deep countries. Dake for example beat the reigning World Champion at the weight at Final X in a 2 out of 3 but it doesn't factor into the UWW.

It's really not as hard as UWW is making it out to be. Highest returning medalist's country's rep is the top seed. Next highest is the 2 seed. Highest ranking series wrestler is the 3, next highest is the 4. Use past Olympic and World medals and then ranking series to seed out to 8.

It would stop some of these insanely off-kilter brackets.

Nah. Blame the wrestlers. They don't compete.

I prefer it the way it is. You have to earn it from previous year's finish, or current year results. There has to be SOME incentive to get these guys to compete more.
